Spent a couple hours on the tractor this evening with my WoodMaxx 62” flail mower. It’s been raining a lot in western Oregon this June, and the grass has grown like crazy. Unfortunately, the blackberries are growing even faster... T.his is why I love the flail. Cut it all!!!

I just strap my Bluetooth speaker to the ROPS and get my jam on... When the music stopped, I couldn’t keep going. I stopped to check I out and make sure my Pandora station was still hooked up.

Since this is an attachment thread, I want to report that the flail is quite strong. Much stronger than the iPhone that fell out of the cup holder and got mowed... I had to finish the job with only my own singing for entertainment.

I have been mowing hay and fields for 35 years. I totally get wanting to listen to music while mowing, but IMHO, its best to keep the volume low enough to hear for strange noises. I have read one too many stories where the operator couldnt hear the tractor and mower and destroyed his own equipment. :( I am guilty myself of having had the volume turned up a little high while listening to talk radio and couldn稚 hear a warning alarm or bearing making too much noise. Luckily, I haven稚 damaged anything, but now I listen at a level where it is a 50-50 blend of entertainment and mechanical noise.
Many equipment owners manuals will instruct the operator to listen for abnormal noises. This is vital to avoiding equipment damage. A squeal, a hum, etc can be your early warning of something about to grenade.

Add into this this mix that these constant loud mechanical noises damage your ability to hear higher pitched sounds (like bearings screaming) we should really wear hearing protection devices especially with open station tractors. The good on this is you can get good quality in ear protection that will bluetooth to your phone and it can be safely stored in a secure pocket. I use Iso tunes when I remember.

I use blue tooth ear muffs at low volume on the AA 5670. that tractor is LOUD!!!

My wife wrapped the rotor end bearing on the JD25A with 4' tall Johnson grass last year when cutting with her JD 4300. Smoked the belt and the rotor bearing. To quote my wife when she called me at work, "it only smoked a little bit, but now doesn't cut very well" LOL

Lead me to come up with a rotor end shroud and cutter pin for the 25A like the 390 has. Impossible to wrap the rotor ends now.
