Yes good old Ford, F=Fix O=or R= Repair D=Dayly. The name tells it all. I haven't owned one in years, of course I have a Town Car now, but that don't count does it? I had mostly Chey products, they just nickel and dime you to death. You know usually nothing big, just a whole lot of little things. Hey, maybe they aren't any better then. I guess that is why so many cars are imported. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

"The guys at NAPA said Ford's good if you want to learn a LOT about how they are built. This is my first Ford, and I'm getting a ribbing,"

Lol, knucklehead, that reminds me of what I was told when I bought my very first car at the age of 16.... It was a '65 Fairlane w/ 289 & 4sp.
F.O.R.D.: fix or repair daily.
I spent a lot of time working on that car but I also learned a lot about about mechanicking (sic). I wouldn't trade that time for anything.

Guess I'd better see what FTW is all about. My Dad had Fords, starting with a red '56 pickup that I ran down the driveway on the starter when I was about 6. I learned to drive in a '71 van on the back roads - I must be the only one in the world that likes column shift 3 speeds. His last Ford was an '89 Bronco. Then he got a 94 Dodge which he still has.

My first vehicle was a 76 2wd Toyota pickup, which I abused like a prerunner for a Baja race until I got the brand new 84 W250. It split the block in the lifter valley at 55,000 (which I still think is a design flaw); I sold it to my brother & he put a new 318 in it and ran it until he swapped it to a guy who's going to put a 440 in it. He got a nice pre ban Colt AR for it. I was truckless (except for a brief period with a 1 ton GMC dump where I thought shift work and a snow plowing business was a good idea) for 10 years until last Fall. So not counting a car or two that someone else didn't want (like my spiffy $550 '86 Pontiac 6000 that just won't die), I have had exactly 4 trucks in 26 years; 3 if you excuse the short term GMC.

My next move will be in one of two directions: a fairly new truck I don't have to work on, or an old one (Power Wagon) that is easy to work on. I don't want to have to go get the multi tester every time something goes wrong and start testing outputs on things I barely understand.

Oh, the Dodge has a bulletproof NP 435 4 speed in it.

Maybe so, but in years past they were the most popular thing going. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif That's what I learned to drive with, owned several, the last being a 1969 Chevy pickup, and that's what all our police vehicles had until 1969. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
