Ford 3000 3 pt. lift arms wait and wait to lift after sitting

I have a 1971 Ford 3000 tractor with original 971 hours. I have owned in since 1998 and has had a 3 pt lift arm issue since then.
I recently installed a 2 spool hydraulic valve to operate the hydraulic bar lift on my new Enorossi sickle bar mower.
After sitting for a few weeks the spool valve will lift the bar no problem immediately after starting the tractor. However I have to wait like 5 minutes before the 3 point lift arms will go up.
Is this a pressure relief valve issue or the or the rock shaft cylinder seal gone bad?

Probably neither one. If the relief valve was a problem the remote valve operation would also be affected. If the cylinder seals were that big a problem, the lift arms, if/when they do finally raise would drop instantly when the tractor was shut off with arms raised. Does that happen?

My experience tells me your pump seal is most likely bad, on the suction side. It isn’t priming like it should. Not an expensive fix and not difficult

Would that be a seal on the hydraulic piston pump (suction tube)?

Yes sir. It is a wobble shaft pump

Steve it the end that driven by the flywheel. Don’t mess with that other end, got a lot of springs and such. It will prime right up when you get that fixed. And even if you need a new wobble shaft it ain’t to costly. Good luck sir

It looks like the suction line on my pump relies on an o/ring for a seal. There are no nuts on the line like the pressure line.

Right. The shaft seal, where it is driven by the flywheel is the most likely culprit. It keeps the pump from priming then once it primes it’s good until you stop again. The pump is going to be removed the take the back end off. I buy the seals vintage tractor 800-853-2651
