Ford 3000 w/ older front loader - pump driveshaft hub info please!

I get the $60 for the hr. of labor but $42 for some cast iron is crazy expensive. I guess I'm fortunate because we have steel stores all over that sell to the public. I'm not sure what shipping would be ($5 flat rate box?) but try this place for steel or whatever you need. The adapter should be real easy for the shop to make.

Thanks for that CF. I dropped the parts and drawing off at the machine shop yesterday and talked to him about the price for steel. The $42 he quoted me was for higher end steel, I told him it can be made from cast iron since that's what the hub & pulley are made of. He's going to look for some cheaper iron and maybe find a scrap piece big enough so I'll get a break on the material cost.

Just a matter of time now, maybe a week or so.

plain mild steel would likely be cheapest..

Okay it's been awhile but I finally got the adapter hub installed on the tractor. I picked up the part from the machine shop 2 weeks ago and it was sitting in my shop until now. They were able to make the part by referring to my crude drawing:

I also left them with the pulley, bolt & hub to match it all up. Apparently my measurements were accurate, to my suprise.

The total came to $117 + change, the material (cast iron) was $17 plus two hours of labor at $50 per hour.

Here's the finished part, back side:

And with the hub on... perfect fit:

A little Ford Blue paint:

You can see the openings in the frame where the shaft goes through:

I don't have pics yet but I test-fit the pump and it lines up just right. There is 6" to 6-1/2" of shaft from the frame to the pump face. I will have to cut and modify the bracket I have from the pre '64 tractor to install the pump.

So far, so good!

Thanks guys!

This adapter enables the front-mounted hydraulic pump on a 19-105 (703) loader (which is made for the '64 & earlier 4000/800 series) to be installed on a '65+ 2000, 3000, or 4000 tractor.

Used 725/730 loaders (for '65+ tractors) are in the $2000 to $3000 range. I bought my 703 loader for $750 and the adapter cost $117, so I've saved a lot of money!

If anyone else wants to use the drawing I posted feel free. Most machine shops should be able to make the part by referring to the drawing, but I'd recommend giving them the pulley, pulley bolt & washer, and pump hub so they can be sure.

Yeah i thought of that, but I'd have to pay someone to make a professional blueprint, pay to take out a patent, then pay a manufacturer to make a bunch of adapters. Then what if I don't sell enough to cover the initial cash layout?

I'd rather just give it away to anyone here who reads it and needs it. I've gotten a lot of help from this forum so now maybe I can give something back. ;)

But if anyone used my idea to profit from without sharing, I might get a bit upset...
