Just acquired a Ford 4400 with a front end loader and spent 2 hours online and pouring through manuals trying to find out where to check the FEL hydraulic fluid level and add fluid. I finally found the answer and thought I would post it here to cut down someone else's search time.

The loader sub frame IS the hydraulic reservoir for the front end loader. On the top of the left hand pillar closest to the operator is a little cylindrical breather cap. That cap is threaded into about a one inch bushing threaded into the top of the pillar.

Remove the bushing. The proper fluid level is about 8 inches below the top of the pillar. Add fluid if needed right there.

Loving the tractor btw. PTO is not independent, but I'm getting used to it. I'm obviously spoiled.
