I have a Ford 5000 that won't shift into neutral. I took the shift plate off and can't align the shift forks. It is stalling the engine when in gear and I can't seem to find anywhere it is binding. It seems to be stuck in two gears. I am going to drain the fluid to see if perhaps there is a gear tooth broken off somewhere that I don't see.
Does anyone know if it is possible that it could be binding anywhere else other than the gearbox area? I don't think there are any gears behind it (mostly the hydraulic pump area) and in front is the clutch plate so I am stumped on this one.
Also, any suggestions for a parts source for the gears / transmission, etc?
Thanks for any suggestions
