Hi all,

I'm planning to make my own FEL as a little project this fall after seeing some well made projects. It will be used mainly for moving around hay bales (350/400kg - 770/880lbs) and some dirt shoveling. I assume when it's operating properly, it will get more tasks.

But, since my tractor (Hinomoto E2304) doesn't have any hydraulics, I'm planning to use a pto pump. I was also thinking about putting a 3rd hydraulic option on the FEL for opening/closing the bale clamp. I don't know anything about hydraulics, so I was hoping I could get some help about wich size pump to buy so it's not to big or small, cilinders and size of hoses, control valves, ...

My tractor should be rated 23hp at the pto so maybe it would be economical to get the best pump with greates flow so I can use the same pump for a log splitter project later on. Or is this too different to use the same pump ?

Advice is very welcome.

Thanks.

Thanks J_J

This will get me started. I will keep you informed about the progress.

ok, short follow up ...

I'm back @ start position.
Although J_J gave me terrific advice on the PTO pump, I was just about ordering stuff, when a friend stopped by. He asked me why I wanted to use a PTO pump, I said because I don't have hydraulics on my tractor, he said you do have ..., I was like ... ??? uuhh no. He said you have a 3-point hitch, so you have hydraulics, you just don't have auxiliary outputs. If you use a PTO pump for the front en loader you want to build, you can not use your PTO anymore. At that point, I was like ...okay ... you have a point but how ... he didn't knew it exactly but gave me some pointers. I should:

  • cut the hydraulics line before it entered the 3 point
  • or put a line to the hydraulics regulator
so this afternoon I took of the chair and some bodywork and this came up.

The pressure line is 12mm (+/-1/2inch) so this is my guessing:

I think could reconnect the pressure line with some olives and union nuts and deviate the line to the new control valves. Then the power beyond outlet of the control valves back to the 3 point hitch inlet connection.

The other option, I don't have a clue whatsoever. I see there are some marks like "L" and "S" and "F" and some numbers and arrows on the regulator but I do not know what they mean or what they do.

In the end, if this is possible, this will be a better solution since I still can use the PTO for other things, even with the FEL still connected. And as a "bonus", save some money to spend for other attachements (no need for extra hydraulic tank, filters, etc. ...)

What is your opinion on this ?

Scons,
You are correct on the pressure line and power beyond connection.

The unknowns are:
Where is the system relief valve located on your tractor? What is the pressure setting of this relief.
Where can you return oil back to the reservoir from the "Tank" port on your loader valve.

Relief valve location concern is that you ALWAYS want the relief valve to be the first valve out of the pump.

Thanks for you input oldnslo

I think this is the pressure relief valve since the bolt isn't all thightened in.

I don't know these answers. I don't have a manual or service manual. These are very hard to find. So if someone has one, please pm me and I will be glad to get a copy, even for some change.

Don't know that yet, haven't bought a controller valve for the loader yet, but I think there are some options for that if needed, there is an inspection cap next to the gear shifter. There are also 3 bolts wich I haven't unscrewed yet, will do that tomorrow to check if they can be of use.

Hi Scons

Any update on this? I have FEL but the seller has mounted it wrong - without power beyond line etc. The FEL operates slowly so I think that hydraulic filter is blocked. I have ordered WIX 51174 filter - going to replace next week. Does anybody knows if the E2304 has suction screen of some kind? I have MF 1030/1030FL parts manual and cannot locate that part on diagrams.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi

No, no progress yet, winter was not suppose to come around anymore, but it did ... so no updates yet.

I believe there is an hydraulic strainer near the hind left wheel, have you taken a look there or took it out yet to clean ?

Hi,

BE is not so far away from PL - winter is the same here :) I have some time to read and think about. I'm going to disassembly the filter mounting and the pipe going from the trans housing to see if there is some kind of additional filter/screen/mesh (despite of hydraulic filter). Please teka a look at your private message - I have send you something - it's save do open.

Thanks,
Alex

well winters here are not as hard as in Poland, but the tractor stands in an open shed, so I don't want to work on it when it's raining hard or snowing to avoid contamination in the blok or lines.

I read your message and replied.

thanks
