Thought I'd share my experience yesterday. I was doing some pretty heavy front end loader work and was carrying a load of dirt when......*%$#@ SNAP, BOOM, DROP.........My left front just fell to the ground!!! Scared the dog, you know what, outta me! I thought the dang front axle broke. Turned out it was the lug bolts on the left front wheel. 3 of the bolts out of 6 I couldn't find and the others were there and stripped and ruined. I know now that I should've checked the tightness of the lugs..........guess they worked loose. So I checked this little town everywhere, read the repair manual and found they were 9/16's, 18 thread, 1 1/8" long, tapered bolts. Couldn't find them so I ordered from NH overnight. Then by accident I checked around for a 9/16" tap to cleand the threads good and found that at a auto parts house. When I got there found out she had the exact bolts I needed too.

Tapped the threads good, it worked well thank goodness and i'm back to work. Now i'm wondering about the rear so I better check them too. Found out that that spindle costs close to $300!!! The whole left front assembly was $500 and something......ouch!!!! Thought I'd pass that on to you guys to check your lug bolts!!!!

I'm surprised your delaer had to order a common item like front lug bolts.

I went in to get a few for the ones I twisted off on my 7610s, and the had a whole bin of them in stock.

what part number were yours.. mine were 81816580

The closest NH dealer in my opinion doesn't stock alot of parts. The warehouse controls this function so the dealer doesn't have all the money in parts he thinks will sell. Besides they can charge shipping..... or if you want to wait for the once a month order, that is another plan.
As the economy tightens the cash becomes scarse so a good business will sort out ways to make the most of the financial network.
Besides everything is so specialized there are few genarics.

SoundGuy,

My front lug bolts are part# 86628557. They are 9/16" x 1 1/8" long 18 threads.

Joes 427 vette,

You're exactly right. I'm finding the dealers aren't stocking much at all these days. They can order and get it in 3 days and in my case if I was willing to pay overnight freight it did get to my door the next day, which anymore isn't all that bad considering that fuel cost to even drive to a dealer is costing about as much as overnight freight alot of times. I've been pretty appreciative that I can get it that fast. What kills you is waiting for 2 weeks to get a part.

Diesel-ME,

Glad to hear you appreciated the thread!
