Got 40 hours on the new tractor (JD 4120) and found a nice slice near the edge of the front tire on three of the lugs. Must of cut on something sharp in the ground while clearing property. One is close enough to the side to eventually tear off. All about a 1/2" deep. Anyone know of a type of glue or cement that I can repair it with? It is not deep enough to cause a flat or anything, but afraid that it will eventually open up. Plus I can't stand the look of it, very noticeable. Debating of maybe replacing the tire now before any issues down the road when they get a little wear and I'm forced to buy 2 or all 4 tires to keep my gear ratio in check (MFWD).

I ran over a metal t post when plowing snow as a kid. Cut the lug pretty badly on the back tire on my grandfathers 8 n. I would say the tire is over 40 years old now, with the same cut in it. Never have heard of a repair material because this area sees alot of movement. The cuts can look ugly a long time.

I agree with living with it; I have a couple of sliced Ag lugs that I notice each time I walk by. However, I have a 1500 hour tractor, not a (practically) new one. Get a new tire and save your sliced one for later.
See how easy it is to spend another's money?

Live with it. If someone mentions it...let them know you are accepting donations toward a new one

It's a tractor!

Yeah I would of said it's just a tractor 30 years ago...lol. With the cost of them today I want to try to maintain and keep it looking good for a while. At least until I'm done with the payments. It just bugs me seeing this nice looking machine with this ugly eye sore of a tire.

If the cut tire is such and eye sore just purchase a new one and store the cut tire for future use.

Remember what ever you have as a spare will never need replacing.

If its just on the lug and not the sidewall it won't hurt nothing. I don't know of any glue strong enough to hold up to tire flex short of vulcanization. You could try gorilla glue or a sell vulcanizing cement. There are many glues available. Do a net search for vulcanizing rubber tire cement.

I hold zero hope that a glue will help....tires get lots of twisting and turning and pressure...how would a glue hold against that??

Unlike punctures, slices aren't repairable. If it's not through the cord, you can live with it. If you're really concerned, start seting aside some dough for a new tire.

Same thing happened to a rear lug on my Deere 110.

Took out a chunk the diameter of a coke can down to the cord...

Imagine that spot is now very vulnerable...
