I looked at the website the other day, interesting setup. Some of the rooms look like they leak. I think I'd be pretty bored after a day or two.
I think the feed is down and channel is just showing old footage.
He mentioned that once a month someone supplies him with the most durable flags they could get.
Looks like someone already put a new flag on the pole. Also, it looks like the "calm after the storm" already.
The place looks pretty run down, but I could see some potential if you could get a decent way to moor boats.
Here is the deal...
If no one is on watch 24/7, you don't put up the US flag, it's THAT simple.
Don't care how "durable" the flag is, unless you're under threat of enemy fire, flag goes up and comes down, once a day, unless you have lights on it for nighttime flying.
Seeing there isn't always someone on the platform I assume the option is leave it up all the time or take it down when no one is there. I was stating what the guy said, I'm sure he had no plans on taking his chopper out there during the storm. All of his cameras appear to be remote controlled. This is America, he can leave his flag up if he wants to just to show the platforms allegiance.
Very simple rule, if you put the flag up and you know you can't be around to take down if you need to take it down, don't put it up in the first place.
This is America, you're right. Only point is if you're going to get pissed (not necessarily you) for a guy kneeling in front of a flag in silent protest, get just as mad as plain ignorance on how to fly the flag. Ignorance is worse IMO.
