I have read were the mx5100 is a fuel drinker. Is this true and if so how do the l4400 and mx4700 do. I'm real close to pulling the trigger on one of these models. Please advice. I dn't wanna buy sumthing and not be happy with my purchase. These are one of them questions that can't really be answered tiil you already have it lol.

I do believe that it depends on the uses!! We jst got through allowing a customer to use a used 5030 to pull a fourteen foot bat wing mower while his new MX5100 came in. Both are hydros and he stated that the 5100 was better then the 5030.

To say that one would use more, be sure the jobs are the same as well as the tractor is operated the same way.

well I understand that. I'm just looking for if theres a big diff in fuel use with them all doing the same job of course. I want sumthing that farily efficent for what it is. On another note i did not know a 5100 was rated high enuff to pull a 14 foot bat wing mower.

It is a finish mower at an airport not a brush style.

According to a little quick math applied to Kubotas performance curves:

The mx5100 will use 3.83 gal/hr running full hp @ 2700 rpms.

The mx4700 will use 2.94 gal/hr running rated hp @ 2700 rpm.

The l4400 will use 2.78 gal/hr running rated hp @ 2600 rpm.

As a closet nerd I happened to have some Kubota engine specs on hand from some recent tractor shopping.............I am also a very good driver:D

It is also safe to assume that if the same guy is looking at all three tractors, the uses for all three will be similar.

thank you milkman you just made it easy on me. The 4700 it is. The extra few hp is not worth the extra gallon a hour. I figured the turbo if anything would help fuel some guess not. I reckon its just there for emmisons. I was really wanting them adjustable links on the 3 pt. But not at a extra gallon a hour price tag.

I find that hard to believe. I have that same tractor and i get about 6hrs to a tank while using a flail in some pretty thick stuff. that would be less than 2 gal per hr as it has a 12 gal tank. . . and when i fill up even though the needle is on E i can only put 10 gal in the tank.

I think someone posted the formula
.075xhp@50%-100% rpm for all diesel engines
But in my case 44hp with this formula comes out to 3.3 gal/hr,in the real world(plowing,brush-hogging ect) it uses about 1.25 gal/hr.
My other tractor 31hp,doing the same used 1.0gal/hr.
Both tractors Kubota.

Under normal operation, pulling a 10 foot rotary cuter, our M8540 won't even burn that much fuel.
