Can anyone confirm that no.2 fuel oil used for oil fired furnaces in homes is the same as diesel fuel suitable for use in our tractors?

I use 5 gallon fuel jugs, and a siphon arrangement to get the fuel moving.

The long end goes in the fuel can, short end in the tank opening. Close the valve and squeeze the bulb a couple times to get fuel to the valve, open the valve and that's about it.

I was looking at the filter and water separator that Northern Tool sells. They are the common ones I see on all the pickup-bed mounted, and others.

Yours looks bigger/better?? But also about 4x as much $$

Yes, #2 is furnace oil. Not to be confused with #1 fuel oil which is used for the old fashioned "stove" heaters. I do not believe #1 would do any damage to your tractor, but the BTU output is less consequently less power.

If you live in a colder climate you may have to do some treatment of the #2 fuel oil to avoid problems.

Nearly the same here but a 500 gallon above ground tank and a hand pump
with a Goldenrod filter. Reminds me I need to check the tank and probably
get about 250 gallons since the price is down a bit. Our bigger tractors burn
better than 2 gallons an hour. The L3940 is a real sipper, very fuel efficient.

I use two 5 gallon cans. I wouldn't be without my handy Maxflo siphon pump though... Flo N' Go - Maxflo

5 gallon plastic jug. Little tractors don't use much fuel, so I don't need anything bigger. Besides, I don't want to be stuck with too much #2 when old man winter comes around!
