I need a shed or pole barn to store a L3830, does anyone know the height of the tractor with the foldable ROPS down ? Will it fit under a 7' door ? If I go with a shed with a ramp, will it fit ? The shed dealers assure me they use marine grade 3/4" plywood over 2x8's 16" o/c and there is no problem with the weight of the tractor, anyone store there tractor in a shed ? or am I better off with a pole barn ?

First congrats on your new purchase. I store my tractor in a shed I built it has a ramp, however my tractor is considerably lighter than yours, but I see no problem with the shed and the ramp holding the weight. I use a standard garage door on mine I made a few threshold modifacation in order to get the tractor in without folding down the ROPs it works great if I drive in and back out but I cannot back in the angle is changed and the ROPs will hit. I build mine on 4x4 skids works great. Good luck with your new unit. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i would opt for the pole barn, but i think there is going to be quite adiff in$$$$. i would imagine, course i don't know what type or size of SHED u are refering to, dealer shouls be able to tell u the height of that tractor with rops down.

Have you thought about putting the shed on a concrete slab? I just went through this exercise, and I opted for the slab because it is (1) much stronger; (2) more durable; (3) easier to get oil stains out of; and (4) fireproof. My shed called for a 4" slab, but I went the extra mile and did a 6" slab. Cost was almost the same as the 'floor kit' that the shed company offered and I have a feeling it will last a lot longer than a wood floor - especially after getting soaked with oil, antifreeze, and what have you.

Hi...

Folding the ROPS is not a 10 second job... need wrenches to get the 2 bolts out... kind of a pain...

Any possibility of getting a backhoe or cab ? consider heights...?

I prefer not having to do anything to get the machine in/out...

I considered all the options for my Kubota L3130... with backhoe & cab...
prebuilt shed... prebuilt garage... stick built... wood floor... concrete slab... sone floor... "portable shelters"... cost...

Most prebuilt garages don't offer the door height...

I ended up getting a 2-car-garage... 24' x 26' "portable shelter" from Farmtek... adequate door height... good quality... relative low cost... <$2,000...
I'll put poly on the ground with gravel over it for the floor...

Met all my criteria...

I got one of those barn style shed's from 84 Lumber (12 X 16) and if I had it all to do over, I would have went with a pole building. The shed uses treated 4X4's as the floor joices (16 inch on center) and has 3/4" plywood (I think) as the floor sheething. All of this is setting on railroad ties to level it up which are 18 inches apart. I have a B-7800 which is a lot lighter than your machine and the plywood will pop loose when I pull the tractor in. I have to lay 2X8s on the floor to ensure the floor doesn't give way. The door is too short to leave ROPS up and just wide enough to get tractor in. When I build new garage, I am putting in 9 ft door to ensure I don't have to take down ROPS. If you can afford it, go with the pole building and make life much simpler.

Go with what you need to leave ROPS up. I think it would be too tempting to "just do a small job" without putting ROPS up.

I agree completely, I have to fold my ROPS to pull my tractor in through the 9' x 7' overhead door, so I just leave it folded & don't think about it. Now I'm thinking about it & I think it's awfully stupid of me to leave it folded when I'm using my tractor.

Amen to that! I have had my tractor just over a year and the ROPS has never been folded. I built a pole shed. It used to be a sawdust pit. I just framed, added a roof, and sided the new part. I purpose-built it so I could drive in without folding the ROPS. All the prebuilt units I looked at were about 2" too short.

I own a B7800 and recently built a garage. You will need an 8 foot door to get in with your ROPS up. A 7 foot door is definately too short.
