I was interested about the number stamped on a welding tip, and thought I understood what the number meant. One of the articles I read, stated the number on the tip meant the oxy psi, and the fuel gas psi setting, and it sounded logical. Come to find out, that it was only true for a certain manufacture. I knew that the orifice size determines the the pressure of the gases, and the thickness of the metal to be welded. Here is a chart of some of the manufactures. So don't assume you know, just by the number.
