We lost our yellow black mouth cur, Mason, just about a year ago, after he fell ill with a fungal lung infection that was misdiagnosed by multiple vets. It was a big loss for me, as he was my little buddy that followed me everywhere. My girls always teased me that he was the son I never had. I've really struggled with the thought of getting another dog. I like the companionship, but I also like having a dog to watch over the homestead.
Well, my daughter arranged a new "little buddy" for me, and we'll drive up to Lubbock later today to pick him up. He's also a black mouth cur, but with a red coat. He's young, at just 6 weeks. He was born in AZ and the gal just happened to be traveling to the TX panhandle this weekend, so we decided to take him early.
We're bracing ourselves for the shenanigans of a new little puppy. Some things are usually lost to the chewing phase. We have a couple of names picked out, with "Cooper" as the forerunner, but we're waiting to meet him before we decide.
