I used to work for a glass co we would take flat laminated glass 4x8' panels into the coal mine here in IL and cut whatever was needed for the dozers or rock haulers or whatever. A good glass man will come to your place and cut whatever you need. It's a simple flat panel put into a rubber gasket. The gasket is usually just cut to length and installed around the opening, then the flat glass is inserted into the glass channel of the rubber. Not complicated not rocket science, you will need to make the panel that holds the window stiff enough to do so. You will be surprized at how much weight youwill have.
