No one is calling you a pointed headed NE socialist, over educated, brain washed American hater, to make their point.

Nah, you southern boys would never stoop to olde gruff Yankee habits would you? Southern boys are always respectful. I'll keep that in mind for the future.

I'm from the South, as are millions. I have friends in the North, and more to meet. You fellows ought to walk away for a while or change your approach.

Im trying to get this guy to change his approach without reporting him. Don't know where he has been on this thread, it's a continuation of a threat started years ago, he has just showed up in the last few months, not sure why he just got interested, and has spued this "Im smarter than you stuff", this one really ticked me though. This guy just hates, his attacks on people don't contribute to the discussion.

Agree. This kerfuffle has little to do with north south. I have plenty of family on each side of the Mason Dixon line.

I yanked Top's chain when he declined to acknowledge his misleading post. Easy to do that when someone has a signature like his.

Hey, Patrick...good to hear from you again...how's the fishing?
I take from your response that you think that I believe that a Chemist is not a scientist unless he publishes; and a "scientist" is not a scientist if he does not publish. To the contrary; what I was trying to convey was that a Chemist or a Biologist or an Astronomer have some entitlement to the title "scientist"; however, the expertise they may exhibit in one particular area may differ greatly, although they all have the basic tools to understand the issues. I would not limit the title "scientist" exclusively to a person who does pure research and has lots of publications...I would however, prefer Einstein as an expert witness on the properties of light, over say Michael Crighton.

I have no clue why you responded the way you did???????????????????????????? I made no claim that publishing was a requirement for scientists to be "real." I thought I was making the opposite point, that scientists may or may not publish but are still scientists. When I was published it was a direct outgrowth of my job, not a separate project to gain status. It wasn't nearly as fun as most other projects and I'm glad to not have been in a publish or perish environment.

Don't be so quick to just oppose anything I say, I might be in agreement with some of your notions some of the time. Scary, huh?

Toppop is ok- just adds a bit of spice- keeps things from getting boring!

Ok that aside- nominations are now open for the Ostrich Club! ...global cooling may be coming to Maine- been in the 40's today and a few flakes were visible. Chili-dogs days ahead. I don't know what we would do without the Taco Bell down the road from the Dairy Queen!

Deniers repent, the end of the world is near!

The Nature site is up. The paper you referred to DOES NOT EXIST. There is no paper by the scientist who your source quoted. It is BOGUS. You posted a phony reference because you did not bother to read what you were telling us was a Nature paper that refutes AGW.

All you have really accomplished today is to demonstrate another perfect example of low IQ dittohead regurgitation of falsehoods from a denier echo chamber that anyone with an ounce of common sense and access to Google could have spotted. Your ability to determine the "credence" of climate science papers is zilch. READ THE CRAP BEFORE YOU POST IT!!!

Well a$zhole, here is the actual CERN study that was cited in synopsis form. http://www.popsci.com/science/article/2011-08/cern-experiment-finds-fragile-link-between-cosmic-rays-and-cloud-formation-climate-changeAnother reference to the same article...http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/08/25/cern_cloud_cosmic_ray_first_results/

Maybe he should man up and acknowledge his error. That would improve the image of southern boys more than waffling and BS'ing about six more papers he refers to but clearly hasn't read.

This is a discussion forum. We are all entitled to our interpretations of data and theories. We cannot post blatant lies without consequences. A real southern gentleman would own up to a mistake, when he does I'll most certainly back off.
A really bright guy wouldn't be such an as4hole, so...

Actually I have a life and was busy until now.
