This year I am in the market for a backhoe for my tractor.
I plan to use the backhoe for ditch digging and ditch maintenance. I have one large ditch to maintain. It is about 1/4 mile long and will have to maintain from the side. The ditch digging should be straddle jobs.
I really like the Long 5320 Loader. So I may purchase a Long backhoe. But, before doing that I thought I'd get some opinions from you folks.
Budget is a factor so, good used, frame or 3pt hitch mount backhoes are open for discussion. I'd like to spend much less than the $5000 (I think...haven't really checked yet) on a frame mounted backhoe.
What size reach and bucket should I get?
It seems the answer is obviously yes but, do bigger bucket and more reach equal less tractor moving?
Are there other options to consider for the job I want to do that would fit in my price range? Rental, used construction equipment etc.
Just a quick rundown on the Farmtrac 60
- Dual hydraulic remotes
- 3000# 3pt Hitch
- 50 Hp
- 2WD
Thanks,
Jim
