Ironically, one of Vermont Castings problems is that their stoves are so good. I'm still using the Resolute I bought in 1981, which means they likely get fewer replacement sales. But the backplate cracked this past winter, so I may be back in the market if I can't fix it.

Thats the point with vermont castings. If it keep needing parts to keep it going why have a VC? I hate mine. It came with the house and will most likely replace it.

Jim...be sure to talk them into some extra by your mailbox if you have one by the road...that way the mail vehicle won't be making a rut....also you might volunteer to let them dump any extra they have on a road or pad you would like to pave...I did that and ended up with a nice second driveway thru my woods and they were glad to get rid of the leftover asphalt...

If you still have your owner's manual, you can determine what the part number is, if you want to replace the back. However, after 20 some years, it might be tough removing the hardware.

Cast iron can be welded or brazed, but I suggest you consider having an expert do the work. It may also be possible to stop drill and patch the crack with a good epoxy.

Good morning all. 73F for a start DP is 70F so very humid. High 95F Heat index(HI) could go over 100 . Watering the sod and various chores.

Need to take the rv back to the dealer that is close to the NJ shore, so I'll see if Nadene wants to put her

They are gonna dump several rip-rap loads on a deep ditch off the road into my property to stop erosion. That, alone, will be worth $$$. Also, no tax increase because of the Barnett Shale gas drilling. Our county has made so much in taxes off of the Barnett Shale natural gas that they are paving all county roads. Our energy resources are improving life for everyone in the county.:thumbsup:
