shopping done, lot of folks rushing about, saw top round roast for 9.49 a pound. wow
I bought some watermelon and will enjoy this afternoon.
While I contemplate my navel.
Never quite understood what that meant.

time to go mow the lawn, bright sun out, left my Tilley hat at friend's last night, have to go back and get it later today.
I have another cap but not as much protection

Buckeye, your mechanical ability continues to impress. When all the lights go off, I want you on my island...

Got a call at 6 am from the neighbor across the road. "Can you watch my dog today?, I've called the ambulance and am going to the hospital." So, went over and picked up the pup, met the EMT guys there. She has a leg issue, fell out of bed and couldn't get up. Good 1 year old lively pup and seems to be testing the patience of my 11 year old lab, but they're playing pretty good. A lot of back and forth tussle... Oh, and the little visitor is wearing a "cone of shame", since he just got fixed a few days ago.

Good Morning!!!! 60F @ 8:15 AM. Partly cloudy. High near 85F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
Wonderful weather yesterday, and today looks like more of the same. I'm not complaining (for a change).😳🤣

My buddy from Klamath Falls drove down yesterday and we celebrated by having dinner at a local Indian casino. Burnt ends for an appetizer, good food, and the little brewery they set up had a flight of beers we tried. Somebody told the waitress you don't serve stout refrigerated, but they did anyway. I'm amazed at the number of people that are mezmerized sitting in front of video screens shoveling money into the slots. Strange what passes for entertainment these days.

We did get the pole for the Starlink dish set in some concrete before we knocked off for dinner, so I did get something done yesterday. And I also finished, good enough to try out, the down force bracket for the auger. It sort of works, well enough to bust through the rocks that were at the bottom of the hole. But now some of the welds on the PHD are cracked, and I still don't understand how any down force can be created when the 3PH itself doesn't have any. I'll post a photo later and maybe someone here with more insight can 'splain it?

Yes, Kyle, Krauser did make a four valve head conversion for the airheads. Not very common these days. Maybe the metallurgy didn't hold up?

We spotted a puff of smoke last night as we sat sipping adult beverages on the back porch. It quickly disapated, so it must of just been a BBQ or something. Too many wildfires here already this year, and we don't need any more. Hope they got the one near you under control, Don. I feel sorry for all the animals that get upset by the fireworks and gunshots. But not sorry enough to abstain.

Once my snoring buddy wakes up and we get fed, we plan to get the rifle range set up and properly christen it. It is, after all, the 4th of July, and I can't think of a more proper way to celebrate this nation's independence. Wish more people felt the same way...

Hope you all, at least the Americans, enjoy the holiday...

HAPPY 4th of July!

Good morning to all! Low of 56°, going up to 84°. Chance of aT-storm.... yea, right! Going from "heavy rains are possible" and very probable "days of rain", the forecast now only shows very slight chances until Friday......

Plenty of clouds and humidity, just nothing to trigger storms. At least the temps are supposedly staying in the low 80's. Can't complain about that.

PopG, those pork roasts turned out great.... 30 hours at what temp?

BEF, neat 'blast from the past' pics of the newspapers. Are you on a daily treasure hunt to see what blew in the yard each morning?

RNG, I watched the video that you posted about the down force. I'm still trying to figure out the geometry of how that works without breaking something.... it just looks like it is fighting against itself. When he said you can't use rear remotes (that's how he bent the arm), I kinda gave up on the idea. Don't want to cause any more work or repairs or break something expensive!

We were watching the birds at the feeders this morning. One a family with 3 chicks still adamantly demanding to be fed. The parents guiding them over to the feeders, almost saying "here it is... you can eat by yourself now". Then the chicks all crammed themselves in between 2 rocks like they were back in the nest. Parents coming to feed them from the feeders about 4-5' away....

I think I hear the mulch calling my name...... hopefully it will get done today.

Some burgers and a couple dogs later. Kyle, guess what I found in the freezer? ....2 smokey links leftover from?

Everyone have a great day!

Drew, nice looking squash! Tomatoes aren't too far off....
No garden veggies this year, only landscape plants growing.

83F and sunny @ 12:00, heading up to a high of 90F for the day.

Did manage to get some Cat Grass planted yesterday.

Did not get any bird feeders filled, will do that today. Probably need to refresh the juice for the hummers while I'm at it. Once I get the hummer feeder brought in to refill, I'll take the shepards hook and stick out in the front yard with the Japanese beetle trap.

Emptied gas can that was in the van into the left tank of the Cub.

Yesterday ended up being another big watering day. First trip was peach and ginkgo trees, new and old plants up in front of shop, and hosta/coral bells in second circle. Second tank load was almost entirely hosta/coral bells in second circle ... so they got a very thorough watering ... which should last awhile even if we don't get any rain for a bit.

Used the screened compost that was left in the dump cart to form catch basins around some of the plants that hadn't been mulched yet and planted two more of the "mixed hosta" out there.

Also made a catch basin and watered a rhododendron in the northeast planting bed that was looking particularly droopy.

Moved more squash and pumpkin plants around back, collected up plants for delivery to relative and moved those to the front and watered them with the Schultz Tomato Food (which is good for other stuff besides tomatoes ... ;))

Moved a good amount of shade/partial shade plants into the garage due to some critter digging at them, probably during the overnight hours. Think it might be 'coons but chipmunks can't be ruled out. These were mostly bare root items that I planted in pots to grow and harden off before planting elsewhere around the property. Was a big mess yesterday morning.

Placed small Menards order for some more 1 gallon pots and line for the new string trimmer. It's ready and could be picked up today if they are open (I think they are)

Will try to get the mulch that is on the rearmost pallet in the van unloaded and placed so that I can pick up the 20 bags they still owe us while we're down there. Think there is only around 6 bags left on that pallet.

Did some rearranging and watering of flowers out front.

Other items on agenda for today:

Get aquarium planter stand moved in front of kitchen window and pots loaded.

Get more bare root items potted.

Mix up more glyphosate and spray.

Plus whatever else comes up.

Hope everyone has a Joyous 4th ... (y)

thanks Ted
I think you need a greenhouse with hvac and drip irrigation.
Your own little green world for your fix of plant generated oxygen.

let's see, which will stop first, the water or the electric?...
Lake Mead is amazing to look at now. And not good.

well, maybe you can order water on Amazon...

mowed the yard, pretty dry and dusty, mowing at 2.75 which still leaves some clover flowers left. Lot of bees out there, which I think is good.
At least for my garden
had to use sun tan lotion, feel all gunked up now.
