Good morning!!!!

Good early (Sunday) arvo. Overnight Low was 0.4C and it's warmed up to 18C! It's sunny with a gentle breeze. I'm back from Church and the rest of the day is His.

Gave myself a haircut/beard trim yesterday... which probably resulted in the near freezing temperature this morning. Fortunately I have a felt (JD green, of course) beanie to wear for just such an occasion. Quick N.A. question: what do you call a beanie? (watch-cap? touque?)

Oh, and I've just received a text message from the "Mad Horse Woman". She's bought another horse, it's arriving tomorrow and has asked if she can put it in Paddock #2 so that it can become 'acquainted' with her first horse. To be fair, she'd noticed a problem with her first horse and had his back x-rayed = yep, he's un-rideable, so this is the reason for the second horse.

Mind you, You really should have at least two horses in a paddock as they're herd animals plus they can sleep better (in turns) once they've 'paired up'.

That's about it, take care all.
If it is black, and is sufficiently long to allow for the de rigeur double-fold, it is a ”watch cap”. if it is a different color, it is a knit cap. If it is too short to do more than a nominal single fold, it is a beanie. If it is a felt skullcap of sufficient size to reach to your forehead and to where your ears meat your head, it is also a beanie. If it is of felt or cloth, of sufficient size to reach your forehead and to where your ears meet your head and has a propeller on top, it is a ”Spanky”. If it is of felt or cloth, and is smaller than a teacup saucer, it is a yarmulke. If it knit and has a bobble on top, it is a ski cap. If it is knit and triangular (in profile) with a tassel, it is a toque.

at least it is in our house 😁

Good Morning! Happy Mother’s Day!!

God has given us another chance to get it right(or at least not screw up too badly).

57.0F, Going to low 80’s, chance of scattered afternoon T-storms.

Up again too early, vechicular traffic at druggies, with associated noises.

Taking mom to brunch up in Pigeon Forge today, Brazilian Rodizio place, one of the things we miss since leaving Jersey. We used to be a 15-20 minute drive from The Ironbound in Newark, where there were so many good Portuguese, Brazilian, and Spanish (España, not Central/South American) restaurants, with a dozen+ rodizio places. Now, we either have to go to Pigeon Forge, or Asheville (excellent rodizio place there too when we were there last about 4 years ago ) — but we refuse to go to Asheville since they got so stupid there and it has become too dangerous.

Anyway, we got first seating, so it will be an early start, just to allow for unforeseen events along the road.

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!

Coffee is brewing. 51° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 66° with partly cloudy skies. Had enough conserve energy yesterday. So go string trimmer out and trimmed around all 4 buildings and gardens. Son came and got his trailer off RV pad. Pulled some more weeds. Will do some garden pond maintainace today. Then pull some more weeds.
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

They are planted in early spring as seedlings. They are kept refrigerated from the MD State nursery until planted. Then staked and plastic shelter added. Mowed 3 or so times a year and sprayed around the shelter for weeds in a small circle. No fertilizer or anything added and only planting trees native to area.
We get around 90 percent survival after planting several thousand trees
M7040,
I have never seen those type of plastic shelters. Do you know what they are called. I have big problems with deer scraping the bark off small trees, so ended up with (4) t-posts around them with 1" pvc from post to post. However, the protectors you are using look pretty good. I assume the could be installed / removed easily?

😲 :D

I guess that I have something of a 'knit cap', then. Although it's a felt/fleece material. As I said, we just refer to them as a 'beanie'. Even if it has a 'tassle' or 'pom-pom'. (no propeller :))

There's a nautical reason for a 'pom-pom' (France, Ireland and a few other Navies have them on their rating's caps) as, because the decks were so low, it was to protect against whacking the top of your head against the deckhead (ceiling).

Ta for your response.

It will be interesting to see how she uses it. #1 ingredient is carob powder.
if the number one ingredient was truffles, would cost the same as a small car......... ;)

good morning all
should be a lovely day, 50 going up to 74, cooler weather for next week, but dry
nice to wake up to sunshine coming in the windows and chattering of birds.

I need it to stop raining so Popgadget's lawn will stop growing, and I/we can find time to get him to work on rv...just some minor plumbing left.
I think I'm going to slip away for two days next week to a little campground only half an hour from here, near Lake Nockamixon. They allow golf carts, if insured, so going to
tow the trailer and golf cart, giving me some wheels to get around campground. Have invited a local friend to come join me for dinner, need to break in my portable
gas barbecue. Reminds me of a "cruise to nowhere", just happy to get away for a day or two.

hmmm, studying this map a little more closely, no septic hook up. For two days that's fine with me
I really prefer onsite septic, can take my time cleaning out the hoses when done. If holding up a line of rv's waiting for common pump out, not so much.

Good morning, the low temp is 38 (a tad cool) and the high going to 62°F. Wind N 10 to 15 mph. Zero precipitation.

Today IS the tin work on the conveyor. IF my step drill wont do the trick on the tin, then that job will wait until after Thursday. Can't do anything with the V-plow until I get more 1/8" drill bits.

I wont be going to town until Thursday. With gas at $1.879/L ($7.10/US gallon) I don't venture too far. I have been getting away with one tank of gas a month, all winter.

Wagtail, around this house we just call them toques, I call them French Block heaters. They are made of wool and are usually hand knitted. They keep my block head warm in winter.

Have a safe day all
