riptides, don't go slip sliding away...wait for a safer day to clean it up. The older we get, those falls really hurt.

I read this with a smile and wanted to share. good going Mary!
GM's Next CEO: Mary Barra Should Always Have Been the Favorite - Motor Trend

she not only broke the glass ceiling, I think she is having the glass frames removed. And now that GM is no longer government motors, with all money paid back, GM might give Ford a real run for its money. Of course Ford never had to go to the government trough either. I always respected that in Ford and always consider their products, even if for a long time Nadene and I only bought GM products. Her Dad was a retired senior exec at GM, ran their factories here and I think in Spain, and while the GM family discount was nice, there was no way Daddy's little girl was going to buy anything other than GM. And since when I met my wife she was driving a Cadillac STS, well when I kept trying to keep the price down on subsequent vehicles, at least once in a while she got a new Cadillac. And I have one now, sitting parked off to the side in our driveway, the shiniest reddest thing I've ever seen, looks like a Christmas ornament all by itself. Going to see if the leasing company will take it back a year earlier for some egregious amount of money. My little Golf TDI happily sits in the garage. Now that the snow has been cleaned off the roads, I can stop driving the Suburban, gladly, at 11 mpg.

well that was quite a ramble. ? Time for a second cup of coffee and a shower. And then I have to figure out how to get a heavily taped bandage off the middle of my back where my hands don't reach. I have a backscratcher as my first implement of choice, this could get interesting. TMI

I agree about appointing this Barra to the ceo job. She is somebody who worked her way up, not somebody who was born into a big job.

17 early, 20 now around 30-32 later. I pulled a Stockton, CA to South Mills, NC which is far northeastern corner, from 5 PM PT on Friday-11 AM ET, 8 AM PT on Monday. That was 41 years ago the week before Thanksgiving. Drove that '68 Sport Fury, 440/4 speed a little hard that weekend and I was 41 years younger.

Ok in a car I did the exact same Anaheim Hills to Fredericksburg in 2004 when we moved. My brother and I left Friday at 5 and arrived in VA Sunday at 2pm... We did stop one night to the east of Memphis... Junction City?

But there were 2 of us...

Much like Riptides, it is CCCCCOLD here.

It has warmed UP to 26 already. It was like 19 earlier.

HARD frost. the grass was white. the screen door for the basement was frozen shut, the door to the Chik'n Shak was frozen shut.

COLD.

I'm off to Denver this afternoon and I PROMISE not to forget my coat this time.

Be well all,
David

22 right now and we have a dusting of snow on the drive and walks. The high today is predicted to be 24. The next few days are going to be quite cold...dropping into the single digits at night.

My stove started back puffing a couple days back. We just had the chimney checked out a week or so ago and we seem to have good draft. Initially, I thought it might be the wood but now I think it need a good cleaning...especially at the air controller ports

There was one of me, first night in the wee hours I stopped at a little motel in Flagstaff, got a shower hit the bunk about 1 or so, turned on the radio, woke up to the the dj saying 9:15! I jumped out of bed, got ready and hit the road in bright sunshine to find out it was not quite 6 AM, apparently he said '5:15' and the sun rises early on top of that mountain. I started off half asleep and instead of getting on 40, went due north, by the time I realized it and started to look for a way around I drove a hundred miles out of my way. It was pow wow day for the local tribe and many were walking the road to the meeting. I picked up an old chief who in spite of his aroma gave me some good directions. The next night I stopped in east Texas for a few hours at a rest stop after the truck driver woke me up driving down 40 fast asleep. The next day, Sunday, the points on the Plymouth closed up, I stopped in Knoxville and borrowed some tools and bought a set of points, cost me an hour or so. I stopped later in the mountains of NC at a rest stop for a couple of hours, I rolled into South mills, actually 5 miles north of there on 17 at 11 AM. Had a fine Stewart Chuckwagon from the infrared warmer for breakfast and celebrated.

Good morning! 33˚ heading to 53˚ cloudy.
My wood splitter is somewhere between California and Dallas, and to think a week ago I actually touched it in Austin, but I could not get myself to buy it without my 25% off coupon which was sitting at home. Well that's $70 that will go toward a Grapple. Need to find another dead tree that needs cutting and has limbs less than 7" in diameter to fit in the WBS.

Sorry Drew, but I think you are very mistaken. This is the story I read earlier this week. My shares pre-bailout were worth 10 cents on the dollar. Stockholders were just thrown under the bus. Now, to add insult to injury, the taxpayers lose $10.5 BILLION. GM was and is operating on the backs of taxpayers. I wish Mary Barra well, but it will be a cold day in . . . before I buy a GM car. It's either Ford or foreign for me. Ford didn't need a bailout and I watched my Ford stock surge to four times what I paid for it. My next car will probably be one of the new CRV look-alike Ford Escapes.

I'm still waiting on my stuff from FedEx ground today that was due Friday. the combination of weather and holiday volume got them 3 days behind....according to them.
