new tires for me and emptying the wallet at Costco
Oh yes-- time for new rubber on my truck considering how frequently I drive through Donner Summit in ice and snow.

Finally got Rigby's new fence finished. Did a marathon session yesterday applying the sealer and UV protection to the cedar wood. Feeling it today-- I'm not as young as I used to be, lol.

Rigby has overcome his fear of other dogs. We recently introduced him to two dogs and it went well even though both were bigger. One was an 85lb mixed breed. The other a 120lb cane corso. But he is a gentle giant dog.

Everyone have a great day!!!

51 outside right now. Heading to upper 70's. A lot of smoke in my area, fires to the south of us. Super dry, no rain for at least 30 days and counting. Need to unpack truck and head back out on what I think is the final road trip. Course I said that two trips ago.

Pretty tired of running up and down the roads, no worse than the commute of days ago. My butt though definitely has a two hour limit, one way.

Things should settle down after today. Then I can focus on the farm and family. Lots of ketchup to do. I need to start looking for another gig too. Been since end of September without real jobs. LOL. Guess I am slacking.

Hope all have a great day today! Be safe.

51 deg to start
Garbage Day.
Mostly, was a good meeting yesterday. Our church is hiring a new minister, and one applicant is from down around Georgetown TX area, his wife was from this area. We are planning to bring his family up here for a listen and to meet. Like everything else, shortage when it comes to Ministers also. Everyone is retiring and not enough new ones. Most of the applicants have not been qualified, or not what our congregation is looking for.

I had lunch yesterday at the italian place we always go to on Sundays. I think I confused them as to what day it was. :ROFLMAO: But I did say It's just 1 today, not the 10-20 people we usually have..

Today is youngest sons Birthday.
Oldest son just told us he's having surgery soon for some kind of tear in his shoulder. We might have to go bring him up for Thanksgiving.

good morning, 48 going to 74 much warmer today

using mini split heat a little this morning.

Made a stew yesterday out of the pork roast and it was really delicious with lost of sautéed onions and mushrooms

turned the screws up on the jack posts and measured progress with the laser. Pretty much stuck without moving it much despite having 4 jack posts in a short span. Plan B is needed when I figure out what that is

That's good. I need to get some blown away yet..

concerning Medicare Advantage, I've heard they are more like an HMO, a little lower cost, but more restrictions.
There are many different Medicare Advantage plans. My Advantage plan is a PPO2. Any Dr and no referral needed for a specialist. I can go to any pharmacy of my choice. Each state/area code has different rules for what a plan provides.

Good Evening GS,

GS, I decided that the straight Medicare plan seemed to be the best when we went on it ! The Advantage plans can save you some money up front but in the long run the straight Medicare seemed the most flexible, even though it was a bit more money ! JMO !
Best of luck working through all of that ! 🙏
I'm going to have to make a decision about which plan to get...I have about 6 months to do so I think.
RS, where we live is a medical desert. No ER's or hospitals unless you drive over 30 minutes, and the closest is private $$$, so my family has to go about an hour and ten minute drive.

I just stumbled on a two ingredient recipe for biscuits. Whipping cream and self rising flour. Gonna try that soon.
Had those before. Really good.

Good morning! 62˚F and staying in the 60s all day. We had 1.5" of rain last night or there about. My Tempest weather station stopped reporting. It has been going off line frequently in the dark. Last time they sent me a new outside station because the battery is not replaceable. I have sent them emails but no reply yet. The batteries should last more than 3 years or be replaceable.
The AC in the car is out and will take it in today. AC is used year round. I have been looking at the RAV4s may have to look harder.
I've been wondering how the Stinger has been doing.

if the Gulf of Mexico keeps heating up, weather for Texas and rest of us in East is just going to get more intense.
this coming storm is not supposed to be as bad as last ones due to cooler Gulf.

The warm record temps we've had the last month have been close to records set in the early to mid 1900's. So, it was hot or hotter then too.

Hurricane season goes thru Nov, so here we are facing another possibility. I hope it winds down instead of up.
Worst hurricane to hit Texas was in 1900. The Gulf got plenty hot back then.

We finally got some rain last night and it is a cool 58F and breezy. Maybe .7" The first rain in maybe a month and a half.

I hope all of you have a great day!

Prayers.

Good Morning!!!! 53F @ 4:15AM. Sunshine and a few clouds. High 72F. Winds NNW at 10 to 20 mph.

did anyone else get a form from SS about signing up for their "new" online services?
they mail you a letter with instructions on how to set it up with a one time code that expires in 60 days.
going to work on that today. They call this an "advanced account". Really?
just keep sending my check...
Oh boy, more hoops to jump through. Didn't SS just put in a new password/login system a few months ago? Or was that DMV? Either way, it didn't work worth a hoot at first and I had to wait several weeks for the bugs to get worked out.

I have been looking at the RAV4s may have to look harder.
Unfortunately, according to CarEdge, Toyotas are in pretty short supply right now. But maybe you can find a year end deal using their search tool? It's showing one in North Austin that's been on the lot for 241 days that you could probably beat them down on.

Played musical trailers yesterday and got the utility trailer to where I could hitch it to the van. I put a new plug on the trailer wiring harness last week and leaned that the lights are FUBAR. It got some pretty rough handling when I repainted it, so I'll head to HF this morning and get a new set of lights and wires. Also drilled a new set of holes in the trailer jack so the jack wheel sits square, and now it pivots easily. That little problem has been bugging me for years.

Not sure what the rest of the day will bring, but it's an opportunity rich environment.
