2014-12-31, 0750 6 degrees and light snow right now...no appreciable accumulation expected...just enough to make the roads slick. High today will be 23. Stepdaughter is heading to SE New Hampshire to party with friends, so wifey and I have the house to ourselves. Got about half a case of beer, a bottle of wine and a bottle of champagne...we're good for New Year's Eve. Tomorrow is my birthday, BTW....65.

30 this morning here in the smokies. We head home today. Been a decent vacation. But this place is sure crowded stood in line for over two hours yesterday just to ride a tram up a mountain to take the boy to see some animals. Get to the top and it's snowing so they have to put up the animals (river otters and such). How do these things live in the wild. Traffic wasn't bad til Gatlinburg then it was terrible. Nice bass pro shops down here and of course can't leave without going to the knife works. Had a pretty good time but can't wait to get home. As you can probably tell I'm not much of a vacationer. Wife loves it except for the excessive line standing and traffic.

I overdose on crowds pretty quickly myself. Not a true phobia but just a creeping feeling of "let me out of here!" :laughing:

My older son once said the best part of a vacation is the first ten minutes after returning home.

Need to get up and pour second cup of coffee. 48° with rain this morning. Heading to 54° with periods of rain all day. Weather is not going to give us a good welcome to the new year. We do not normally do any celebrating for the new year. Except some kind of seafood and a little wine.

30º here at me GA place, very damp. Chills ye old bones right to the core. Plus - I got that nasty flu on Christmas Day! Took flu shot, but it missed this mess. A bit better now, but y'all boys hang in. Hope ye don't get this mess.

Good Morning All! It's a bit chilly here this a.m. Mid 30s, with a projected high of 42*. There is a north wind blowing, bringing the windchill down into the thirties. Rain expected later today, through Friday. Brrr. Going to be a raw next few days.

Have not had anything on the calendar since Monday, and have been working on the computer knocking stuff out by the end of the month/year. so starting to feel a little housebound. May venture out this afternoon just for the sake of getting out of the house.

Been busy with family stuff for a couple of days. Everybody is having Christmas a different day, due to employment and vacation timing. We are going out for a coffee in a bit, then maybe back here for lunch. We are watching my sister's dog, a silky terrier. Little guy thinks he's the boss... My 80+ lbs boxer and shepard mix ignore him!!

Cold here, but sunny. We actually got a trace of snow, hope that's all we get.

Good morning 24 and clear. Just picked up some lobsters to stuff for New Year's Eve dinner. New Year's Eve is always amateur night too many drunks out since wife and I have been married this has been our tradition 30 years. Started wit 2 lobsters and has worked its way up to 10 with the children and their boy or girl friends son will pick up 2 for his wife and himself. I know they are all safe at home.

Hello Roy....An early Happy New Year Birthday to you....have never known anyone else who was born on New Year's Day but it's a PERFECT day to celebrate, even at your advanced age....we are going to stay home tonight, she is taking the grandkids back to her daughter's later today and picking up the house (aftermath from the visit) will take what little energy we have left so we are not going anyplace. My 25 year old nephew is going to CHICAGO from Lansing tonight, a 3 1/2 hour one way drive to party...must be nice to be young and have that kind of energy and time to go out and celebrate.

Darn it, it is COLD today...temp is in the teens with a stiff breeze blasting...let my big cat out ten minutes ago and he already wants back in....
