Hanging out with the dogs, this am. 1 more cup of coffee, then I will get motivated..... I changed out the goat and chicken water. Colder than heck out there. A good day to stay inside!
So ... after the kid puts the gas valve in yesterday and gets nowhere he calls Dad (found out yesterday it's a father/son/wife outfit)
Comes back in and says Dad - who was currently busy doing something with some galvanized pipe - will be out in the morning ... and he'll have some test equipment (pressure or vacuum gauge ?) that the kid doesn't have.
Ok, fair enough.
So about a half an hour ago my cell rings and it's Dad ... and he ain't comin' ... ever, apparently ... on the night/day of lowest predicted temps so far this season (-3F for low tonight)
Says he talked to the local Rheem guy and based on what's going on, the local Rheem rep is stumped too. Nothing more to do ...
Can't tell me what's wrong ... other than a bunch of ... maybe this ... maybe that ...
Needless to say the conversation didn't go real well ...
After I got off the phone with him I got to thinking: ... what about my original gas valve ?
I believe I mentioned on this forum that when the kid installed the first replacement valve (which quit working within 24 hours), I didn't realize that he had taken my old valve ... and that I called (less than 24 hours later) the older guy (who as it turns out is Dad) and reported that the furnace was still not working ... and that his son had taken the original gas valve without my permission and that I wanted it back.
Dad sez "No problem ... it's still on his truck ... we'll get it back to ya ..."
They never did ... despite my asking about it again after that.
So I called Dad back this morning after our first call, and asked "Where's my original gas valve ?"
He apparently thought I was asking about one of the replacement valves and replied "We have to send those back to Honeywell for warranty"
Ahhh ... no Pops ... my original valve ...
"Oh ... that's long gone ... it's been scraped ..."
To which I replied "So you f'ed up that too ?"
This is the first time I have ever used that type of language with/at these guys ... despite several months of their failing to demonstrate their competence by fixing - or even just properly diagnosing - my furnace.
Needless to say, Dad was not pleased.
But his reply/explanation was rather telling:
"Do you realize how busy we are ?"
Umm yeah ... actually I do:
"Too busy to keep your word once given ... and clearly too busy to take proper care of your customers ..."
