On staying warm:
Like some said, layers are key. Part of it depends on the activity (sitting on a open station tractor blowin' snow is far different than cuttin' wood) and the actual conditions (15F on calm sunny day is way different than 15F at night when the wind is howlin' ...)
Personally, I have a set of large, insulated (400 grams) Rocky Boots which I wear over some thick wool socks. A set of Carhardt quilted, insulated jeans and then a t-shirt, and a long-sleeve shirt (I like Schimdt's stuff from TSC) covered with my Cardhardt hoodie. Knit toboggan covered by the rabbit fur ushanka (Russian fur hat) I got Pops for one of his birthdays. Had a really great pair of insulated Saranac gloves but I've lost one of them ... so I've been wearing various lessers ...
If it's really, really cold and I'm not going to be real active I'll put on the long underwear too ...
