Good morning!!!!

52 this morning and headed to 89 today. Forecasts show last morning in the 50's. Hope they're wrong.

Weedeating is done. And I'm paying for it today. Fences are sprayed. Cows are moved. Have a couple of repairs in the chicken coops then back to building. I swear I'll get it done. One day. Short day today. I have to keep the boy tonight so my wife can go watch her students cheer at a football game. At least I don't have to go. Although I asked why she did.

Drew. Yep you need a beach vacation. I had one back in the summer and learned that I live too far away to make a habit of going. Don't forget the sunglasses. Even on cloudy days.

Kev. Knew an old horse trainer that had a remedy for a twisted gut. Said if you waited on the vet you'd get to dig a big hole and pay a big bill. He just inserted a garden hose and turned it on. To reverse the natural flow. Said the reverse water pressure would untwist it. Claimed he never lost a horse that way.

Hey Kev. I never said anything about using it on humans. If I was you I'd keep that doctors appointment. But you might keep it in mind as you do have horses. I agree with the mental images. Laughing.

Good Morning! 74F @ 7:05AM. Partly cloudy. High 96F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. A front will sweep through in the wee hours tonight bringing a slight chance of showers. But the big news is a ten degree drop in daily high temperatures that is supposed to last most of the coming week.

Kev, I'm afraid your superior visualization powers exceed my grasp, and I had to make do with drops of red and blue paint applied with the end of a tooth pick. :confused2: Rest assured, though, next time I run into another plumbing nightmare, you're my go-to guy! Good luck with the diagnosis, though neither option sounds particularly appealing. Maybe it'll turn out to be gas? :( If you give Farmer's remedy for colic, though, please share a video with us, OK?

Nice looking wood there, Drew. Doesn't the rail on that splitter rotate so that the foot rests on the ground? Be a lot easier dispatching big rounds like that I would think. I'm hearing rumors that the ammo manufacturers are catching up a bit, and lately a local sporting goods store's radio ads boast stocking 9mm, 40 S&W, 45 ACP, .223, .308, and even 22LR. Funny, not a word about the price.

Agreed, Kyle. Fun as it would be, I hope there would be more than one set of "accommodations" to avoid log jams in the wee hours.

Murph, I'll take the $25 rather than the $50 worth of mercury laced fish...

Don, that sounds like a good breakfast, but where does the smoke come from?

A big "TGIF" to you, Roy, and the rest of you, too!

Was in town for groceries yesterday, and took along a bunch of oil for recycling. The first place would only take 5 gallons, and he made a mess out of that by spilling a bunch of it as he poured it into his carboy. That still left 25 more, so I went down the street to a Jiffy Lube. He gave me the same line about only taking 5, so I said OK and mumbled something about having to find another four dumps. Next thing I know, three guys are outside the tailgate lining up for a 5 gallon bucket. YEAH! I carried the last one over, and they were being dumped into a huge tank that would never know the difference. Guess where I'll be going if I ever decide to let someone else change my oil?

Next stop was the Department of Motor Vehicles where I needed to take the K-bike off "non-op" status so I could register it. As I got my checkbook out, the clerk said "That'll be a hundred and sixty-one dollars, please." HUH?!!? I replied that I don't pay that much for a much newer bike. She said if you wait a month it'll drop to half that. They don't prorate non-ops, so I got to fork over two years of registration fees. But since I'm trying to sell the thing, all I really wanted was that last month of the year. Guess what? "Sorry, we can't do that.". :censored::fiery::banghead:

Then I get home and find a nice letter from the folks at ADT. When the alarm system was put in I didn't have a telephone land line, so they installed a cellular link. The letter contained some mumbo jumbo about a forced upgrade to the link because it uses "old technology". No price was quoted, but they offered free trials on several services I have no interest in as compensation. Well I have a deal for them: Upgrade the cellular link for free, or I'll find another alarm service. Should it come to that, I'll switch the connection over to the land line that was installed a few years back, something I should have done with ADT a long time ago.

What with the stock market gyrations this week, I sure hope it's a quiet Friday!

Does not sound like fun Kev. Hope it gets better quickly. Had my coffee and a pilsbury "cinnabon" roll. Not too shabby for out of a can of biscuits. Have to take my kindergartner boy to school in person today. We caught him telling a lie and we are taking him in person to the teacher for him to apologize. I told him the boy who cried wolf story for the first time. He cried more about having to face the teacher and apologizing than being in timeout for an hour and not getting to play his Ipad games for the weekend. He knows the next time will include dad's belt on the backside.

Kyle
Just read this to my granddaughter, who had a similar learning experience this summer. She is convinced we made stuff up just for her as we go. The loss of the iPad was very relatable to her. The look on her face as I read was priceless.

I set up the camera last night on the porch railing; the pivot mount was useless, really designed to grip a tree, not plastic railing, without scratching everything. today I'll put some seed back in the feeders and then we'll see what happens.
With all the food on display out in the lawn, I'm hoping Mr Bear does not have any interest in gnawing on the camera on the porch.

Drew; Did you ever capture any photos of your bear with the game cam?
Yesterday morning, I had an early morning visitor in our yard just 20 feet from the south deck.

A shame that at 1:30AM, there was nobody awake to notice his presence. My avatar picture was the last
good sighting that I had a few years ago.

that's a big bear...
no bears since, though I stopped putting the peanut butter treats out for the birds, which seems to be what brought at least one in. I have more of those treats when I'm feeling braver...

gorgeous day out, almost didn't mind mowing for four hours. Might even get some windows opened tonight.
