47 this morning and up to 62 now back down to 50. Rain all day and for the next few.

Spent the day packing feed for chickens. Will be doing the same thing tomorrow.

Picked up a farm gun yesterday a Heritage Rough Rider in 22lr and 22mag. Will be waiting for the weather to clear before trying it out.

MFW congrats on the wedding. Hope this one works out for both of you.

Good morning. Not exactly a day to get out of bed early, unless you like it dull, wet and windy, so I'm taking my time over breakfast to try and work up some enthusiasm for going outside.

pics of VA countryside in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Markham lucked out with a Shell station in a local price war

Looks very pleasant countryside to visit, apart from the discrimination against diesel drivers. A winery for people who prefer not to wear clothes, or starker's mountain folk in general ? I've a feeling Google would get me into trouble if I tried working that one out :)

Good morning! 40˚ on and off rain today. The Christmas decorations have been taking up valuable space in the gardens centers since the end of September. Maybe I'll decorate starting mid December.

Eric, when do retailers start displaying Christmas items and when do people decorate their homes over there?

Garden centres around here are not quite that bad, but they are certainly the first places to go into Christmas mode. It does seem a little cruel to inflict the staff of those places to endless loops of recorded Christmas songs for such a long time.

Public lights were turned on in our town and lots of others yesterday.

When I was young, most people would not dare put up anything in their own homes more than a week before Christmas. Nowadays that generation of disapprovers have passed away, so most now get to enjoy decorating their home whenever they feel like it, which is about two weeks before Christmas at our house. I planted over 30 Christmas trees 7 or 8 years ago. The tallest is only at waist height, so looks like the artificial will have to be put into service again.

GM guys...cats are fed, coffee is brewing, just went out to get the local newspaper...planning to go go visit the wife's brother today while he is in the VA hospital. Later on we will head to the local Meijers to begin stocking up on groceries for both our holiday get together here and to donate to the local PD's holiday food drive. The sky appears clear and the temp is in the low 20's for now.

Ron have a good drive. Garandman, got snow tires?
49 going up to a warm 72 today with rain coming in tomorrow.
not good timing for my sea trial, but hey, one way to find out if a boat's window's and hatches leak...

Many emails flying back and forth; seems mechanics went in to change impellers on the engines before sea trial, at my request, and guess what, the generator water pump was shot, so they put a brand new pump on the Onan, and the new impeller broke immediately. Been sitting too long on someone's shelf.
And...when onboard fixing that, they found that a diesel fuel line from a side saddle tank going down to the main day tank had failed, leaking diesel onto the aft cabin floor, into the carpeting. Not good at all. Carpeting ruined, will be replaced, both hoses, including the twin that did not break, are being replaced. But the real issue is getting the diesel smell out of the wood if it permeated. The boat already had a septic smell from old hoses (all to be replaced) so this may be a stinky test drive tomorrow.

Glad it broke on their nickel and not mine. Of course, I'm not telling them that I intend to replace 100% of the hoses on this boat that haven't already been replaced. i'm guessing that's about 3 grand worth of hoses, installed. This is a 32 year old boat and most hoses just don't last that long, and for sure not reliably.
I'm a retired insurance guy. I like reliable...and will change out enough parts until I get it that way. Luckily not an expensive boat so I have good budget for renovating.
Well, I finished renovating my house, and barn, time for a boat now.
retirement is not a dull time for me...thankfully.

Buppies, if that Bertram (spell it right! I used to own one...;)) 25 has been modernized, that would be a cool boat. Bertram 25-----How do they ride? - The Hull Truth - Boating and Fishing Forum

I have about a dozen inexpensive green plastic wreaths to hang up and down my driveway fence today, got the candy canes installed yesterday out by the road and they are bright enough I can see them from the house. Put them on a day night timer, but I need to tape the extension cords or the first rain it will fritz out. Plugged into a gfi too.
then later over to a lady friend and help her trim her tree as she helped me trim mine. The problem is that she wants me for her Christmas present...sigh. and I don't want to be...trying to figure out how to not disappoint her and still remain good friends. Not always easy...

Farmer, I have made two trips to Walmart trying to buy 22LR ammo and the lady says they never have any, comes in and goes out.
How can we still have an ammo "shortage" after all this time?
How many billions of rounds are stockpiled out there?

Local gun store had none either. Isn't this the most common ammo out there?
all I want for Christmas is a box of hollow points...;)
