Internet was moving right along this morning, 70 up, 8 down. Boy I bet some of you out in the country would like those speeds. It would be like "shazaam!"
Indeed it would, Drew. But I learned long ago that the pipes upstream at the servers are the ones with the biggest clogs, and often times it's the sites doling out the data that can't keep up with demand for it. I'd much rather have a reliable connection with unlimited data caps than one so fast that no data source can take full advantage of it. So far I've tried Hughes, Wild Blue, and now Excede, and ignoring a moment the latency problems inherent in any satellite connection, all were faster than most of the sites to which I was attempting to connect. But unless you want to stay up into the wee hours to download the latest map update for your GPS or watch the latest episode of "Orange Is The New Black", you'll find yourself chewing through your monthly data allowance in the first week or so. You can purchase a plan with a higher data cap, but compared to the cost of "lowly" DSL, it gets out of hand rather quickly.
Good luck with your surgery. Enjoy the first hour or so after awakening from the anesthesia when nothing will hurt.
