57 this morning and headed to 72 today.

Going to walk birds and hookup stock trailer and head to friends house. He's hauling cattle today and needs help. Then back and some maintenance in chicken coops.

Don. Can't tell from the pictures, but how much weight is still on the stump? If very much then I'd cut far enough to the other side that it wouldn't fall on backhoe. There's a good chance it'll just roll and never drop. Then step back and cut other side of backhoe. Remove backhoe and then start processing the tree.
If no weight on stump then start on that end. And make same two cuts just in reverse order. The grapple should handle the middle section you are cutting out. But then again I'm just looking at pictures and they can be deceiving.

Don could you hook a chain to the hoe and drag it out from under the tree? I know so many ideas that probably won't work but we do care.

Good morning! Another pic. The BH is pinned down. The top of the BH is higher than the tree so no dragging it out. I have to be carful about the cut so the tree does not roll down and cause more damage. Not much is holding the tree to the stump.

The biggest unknown is how much weight is at each contact point and when a contact point is eliminated how much weight will tranfer to the BH.
I don't want the tree to roll down the BH and I don't want the tree to tip over the grapple and tractor.
There are no trees around to use a chain to stabilize the fallen tree.

An orange crush.

Good morning all! The chickens have been fed, I've already put up a hook for my bride of 37 years, having my second cup of coffee now. Maybe my biggest accomplishment of the day, though, was updating my TBN profile to show my occupation has changed from "engineer" to "retired engineer." After 37 years with the same company, I retired last Friday, so now I get to learn how to do things on a schedule I set

The weatherman warned us this morning not to freak at his forecast for the week, which is rain every day. Unlike other parts of the country, though, we're not likely to get enough to cause problems. I was hoping to till the garden this week, but it looks like I'll have to take it day by day. TXDon, I'll be thinking of your predicament until you get it resolved.

Day number 7 of dreary, wet weather, not as cool today, mid 70's, heavy storms later. Got near an inch yesterday. No sunshine since a week ago today. Most days have been in the 50's with northeast winds, at least the fire danger is down.

Doing better here guys, bright sun but still only 49 now and 54 for a high but with the sun that should help.

Yard is a swamp so I can't cut grass and it won't warm up till Thursday so I don't know what I will do today. Maybe tackle that outside faucet. I don't like the one I got and at 12" will put it almost into the floor joist so I may get a 10" from Menards and pick up the PVC glue I need at the same time.

txdon, Do you have access to a bigger machine or maybe another one. What you have You know best. pictures don't always tell a 1,000 words. What ever you do be careful.

Jerry, congrats on the retirement.

Drew,,,,And in our age category many of us start out the day a bit stiff.
I can still remember when that was a good thing.
Have a good one.

51F and overcast @ 10:00 ... chance of rain every day for the next four days, having highs in the 60's is small consolation.

Yesterday it would rain and the sun would come out ... then do the same thing all over again ... all ... day ... long. Had a thunderstorm move through late last night.

It's so wet out there now that it will probably take a week or more of no rain and plenty of sun and temps in the mid-70's for it to dry out. In the meantime the grass - and weeds - just keep on growing.

Have started the build thread for the LPGS and gotten a little bit of work done on it:

LPGS for Kubota B2910

Next door neighbor, who is a heavy equipment mechanic, is checking to see if he can get me a couple of used/scrapped cutting edges off a motor grader for free/cheap. Found a guy on craigs down in Kidron who has some heavy angle (1/2" x 4" x 4", 4" x 8") for very cheap ($0.30 lb) going to see him tomorrow.
