Good morning!!!!

Good morning everyone. Eggs have been delivered, chickens fed, grandson on school bus, having second cup of coffee. Anyone else get caught up in yesterday's internet and cable tv outage from about 2 pm EDT until after I went to bed?

Sorry to hear about you guys in the mid-Atlantic region having more gloomy, rainy weather. Looks like we are far enough north to enjoy sunshine the next few days. I got most of the mowing done yesterday, will be off to get a yard of topsoil then a yard of mulch later this morning.

Hope everyone has a great day.

64 this morning and headed to 76 today. .25 inches of rain overnight. More returns to forecast after lunch.

Planted 6 rows of Peaches and Cream sweet corn yesterday and 2 rows of green beans. Need to pickup some more bean seeds as I wanted 3-4 rows. All rows about 100' long. Also need some fertilizer to side dress with.

Probably spend the day cleaning the house unless it dries up outside.

Back in the same pattern we had last week, cool, cloudy and dreary with off and on rain. It was supposed to clear up and be warm, but not so.

Yes I am familliar with it, but have not used it. I did sign up and a sales man called but that is about as far as I got - no pricing was given. I have used Costco's travel program and it was good. Along with the best possible price on a cruise with all the ships incentives they also threw in a $90 on board spending voucher which was waiting on the bed when we got to the ship. Some reviews for the auto program say you can get the same deal yourself but I like the idea of no hassels.

Good morning! 73˚ cloudy chance of rain. I got my can of DeOxIt delivered yesterday and took the dash apart and treated the connections. The tractor has started every time since that one day but my wife still thinks I need a new switch - we will see.

Kyle have you been to the Sears in College station - it looks like they are very low on inventory and my close soon. There might be some good clearance sales soon. The Sears parts/repair across the street from the mall is shut down.

Might have to go check it out. Kind of sad that Sears would be shutting down in a town this size.

Good morning all. Once again, it is raining/cloudy just like yesterday. Yesterday, while not having a chore in mind for my place, I went next door to see what my neighbor Mike (female) was doing out in her yard. I usually help her with heavy work since her husband is not able to do much due to a pulmonary disease. Anyway, I went over to see what she was doing and ended up with a full day of work, some of it in the light rain that we had off and on all day yesterday.
We finished picking up trash from where workers have been fixing some rotten siding on their 2nd home next door that is for sale. She got on her lawn mower and started mowing and I noticed that it wasn't cutting well and the same tire that I aired up for her last week was again low. I had her bring it to my shop where I lifted it up with my B26 TLB to remove the terribly dull blades. The front edge was about like the back edge so it took a while to sharpen.
Next I found that I had a full quart of Slime so I put about 1/3 or the bottle in that tire and aired it up. Luckily this time it wasn't off the rim like last time.
Next I got out her light weight Stihl (don't know the model) weedeater but it wouldn't start, it has always been a PIA to get started. I ended up going to my house to get my Stihl FS53 and used it for about 5 hours. Burned 3 tanks of gas on the place that is for sale getting around the house detached garage, camper shed, well house, pool, several hundred feet of fence and cracks in the pavement. Man I can see why they decided that it was too much work to keep up.

While taking a coffee break, Mike was telling me about how she was talking to her 7 year old grandson about how our dog opens the door and comes and goes as he wants. He asked her why he wants to go inside and she told him that he goes inside to eat. In awe, the child says. "What does he cook?" Now I do admit that our German Shepherd is a smart dog, but we don't let him mess with the stove.

53.2F and overcast, ground is wet so it's been raining. High today predicted to 62F, with thunderstorms.

Got the right front turn signal assembly installed on The Woman's car yesterday ... after she had investigated the matter - and the new part I ordered - and came inside and announced: "This isn't the correct part ... it's too big."

Yeah, uh-huh ...

Also got two pieces of angle welded on the bottom of the SSQA plate on the grapple so contact with the ground can't push the locking pins up and detach the grapple:

Probably a mod worth doing on the bucket as well.

Worked on cutting the 2 1/2" square tube for the 3PH frame for the LPGS until around 23:30 last night ... got it all cut.

Bonus: bandsaw seems to be cutting straight and true ... :D

More cutting today, this time with an angle grinder and zip disc ... have some 6" x 3 1/2" x 1/2" angle (10') that I need to trim and cut down to 4" x 3 1/2". Also have some (8') that I need to split into 6" x 1/2" and 3" x 1/2" flats. Both promise to be a real treat.

Then have to cut some of the 3" flats into the parts for the pins on the 3PH hookup.

Also need to figure out the specifics on the parallel linkage mechanism for the height adjustment on the carrier for the blades.

Good morning all. Bright, sunny, windy morning here, temps start at 68F and forecast to climb to 92F (first 90F day for me). Rain in forecast for today afternoon and tomorrow afternoon. Yesterday's bike ride modified because of #2 low water had 3 1/2 feet of water over it, but dropping fast. More billing work, bike ride, summer haircut, consulting work, bike maintenance, and reorganize garage. List will last the rest of the week :ashamed:

That's exactly how my switch has behaved since I bathed it in DeOxIt, Don. Something like four months ago, and the tractor sat outside all during the monster rains we got in March. But I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that was the solution you needed... :D

Good Morning! 66F @ 8:30AM. Sunny. High 86F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.

Knock it off, RS, yer makin' the rest of us look bad (again)

Started yesterday by getting the donor van out of the garage and safely parked outside, in preparation for removing the pop top roof.

Used the RTV, a couple ratchet straps, and an old piece of carpet, and neither vehicle received any damage.

popTopLift.jpg

Then I popped the top for the first time (not enough room in the garage) and discovered that the cloth on the sides had rotted away from being stored improperly. No surprise, and cutting it off the rest of the way made removal easier. To finish brushing up on my Redneckin', I got out the tractor forks and levitated the top off, after removing about a million screws first. It now rests comfortably on a pair of saw horses, awaiting my tender ministrations with 180 grit and a dual action sander.

After

By 4 PM it was finally warm enough to paint, so I washed off the recently striped motorcycle parts and applied several coats of clear. Got a little over zealous on the tank and created several large runs, but since all the parts will need several layers to bury the stripes, it just means a little more work with the wet'n'dry sandpaper before the next session. Really pleased how the striping cleaned up the edges on the gold, and the traditional look of the red/gold/black coloring.

Enjoyed a beer or two on the patio while the stuff set up enough to take it back into the garage to finish drying, marveling at all the different birds that make this place home. Hummers, barn swallows, finches, and big turkey vultures were all sharing the sky, making it a very busy and entertaining place. Forgot to mention it, but yesterday one of the buzzards was circling off the side of the driveway, actually flying below the level of the drive as the land drops off very steeply there (that's where I was worried about losing the van ). Anyway, after several 40' circles, it lands and starts looking at something on the freshly mown hillside. And before I knew it, it was up on the driveway, maybe 20' away, looking me over and trying to figure out what to do next. Tried to sneak back into the garage and get my camera, but it was gone before I could get it. Never a dull moment around here...
