Morning all! This afternoon I need to install a float switch in the septic crock where the pump is located. From time to time in the past years when I lose a pump we never know until it backs up into the basement. Once I get the float switch hooked up to a loud buzzer it should give us ample warning that we have lost a pump before things back up. This past summer I buried conduit w/wiring in anticipation of adding the float switch.

43 here now, going to 77 today, very warm week ahead.
My wife got better news yesterday and it seems there may be a path to help her improve. Now if I can just get old hard head to do it!:D

That's great news Randy!

It's been another good morning here in Scotland - sunny for the third day in a row!

Still very cold though, but the barometer is heading past fair and towards very dry so that's something positive. We sure don't need more rain, we've had enough of that in the past week.

Went to see somebody about paid employment today and it went well so I should know by the end of the week if I have it or not.

Here's hoping I get it, could really do with the money right now.

Take care and have a good Tuesday guys!

~Jamie.

The older part of the house I live in didn't even have a sump pit or pump, just a floor drain that went to a leach field in the back yard...the only water that ever came in was from basement wall seepage. After building on, one corner of the addition basement was constantly wet, it appears some sort of natural spring is in that area...we installed the crock and sump pit in that corner. First pump we put in was a submerged type with a tethered float switch, the d*** switch was ALWAYS hanging up in the crock and the basement got wet several times, I finally replaced the pump with a pedestal type and a vertical float switch...no issues since. BUT...I now wish I had installed TWO of those polythylene crocks with a second pump and a 2" PVC pipe connecting them near the top, so should one have a pump malfunction the other pump will serve as a backup.
