-2 here, going lower tonight. Finally went to the docs today, they said I had bronchitis, gave me a shot of cortisone and 2 different antibiotics. I feel better already, but have to abstain from beer for a day or so

We have had boxers for years, in the really cold weather, they go out and take care of business, and are back at the door within a couple of minutes. In nice weather, I sometimes have trouble getting them in. I use the Kubota to plow out lanes for them to use.

Have a good one!

Good evening all. 28F this morning, calm wind, clear sky. High temp was 59F, wind stayed light, and sky remained mostly clear. Heat guy was out here this morning, no issues found except operator error :ashamed: . Went for bike ride, and finally got a nap today.
First snow pusher was an 8N, just had a rear blade. Second snow pusher was the Ford 1700, had an FEL as well. Once the 4WD worked, for snows over 6 inch would run FEL at 6-8 in, and finish with rear blade. Drew never seam to hurt concrete or asphalt with rear blade even without shoes. We would get thundersnows every few years, 12 - 24 inch of heavy wet snows with winds gusting 25-35 and sharply colder during plow time. Would do several of the neighbors driveways then then road (maybe 1000-1500 feet long)

Rip, good news on the upcoming trip home, prayers for safe travel and continued healing.

Buckeye here prayers for healing without need for more surgery. Our outside cat was the same way, the outside could wait for better weather. He would spend most of the day on the heating pad, would go outside when he was ready to get off it. :D

Randy have fun with your driveway and new kubota

Ed nap well.

Some pics of the prospective fish room.

Looking back into the main area of the room from a small alcove that was used for a desk, entryway hall is on the left:

Looking west.jpg
The room is actually a lot brighter than it appears ... and it should get even brighter still, once I get a coat of good white paint on it, rather than the off-white that's on there now.

Alcove that held the desk on the left, entryway "hall" on the right:

Looking southeast.jpg
The recess in the entryway will eventually have a set of storage shelves built into it, and the freestanding shelves which I'm using temporarily for storage will be removed.

Utility closet where the stationary tub and the water supply, drain, etc. will be on the left, alcove on the right:

Looking east.jpg

The bulb in that closet is just a normal incandescent ... the LEDs are sure a lot brighter ... and bluer ...

Preponderance ? You do teach me some new words on this forum.

Good morning all. We are just on freezing. Our forecast is for a preponderance of rain this morning. :)

Kind of like a sniff test to see if something stinks.

Prepongerance ?

I had been hoping the ground would be frozen to make it easier to get to work on the top hedge again. Walking is hard enough when the soil is saturated and pushing a wheel barrow full of tools across fields will be a real workout. Our old Subaru makes a great tool carrier on sloping wet grass, or even through a bit of mud, but it has no chance in these conditions. Although the tractor would make it over, it would also make a real mess of the pasture. I can see it being like this for the rest of winter.

Are those of you with side-by-side utility vehicles able to still drive over grass when everything is soaked ? ATV's (like the Honda Fourtrax) have been popular here for a while but I don't know anyone locally with a side-by-side. I'm considering what options I have in case the Subaru finally expires before I do.

Good morning all. 6 this morning with a wind chill around 0. Wind supposed to pick up this morning with a high of 18. Got 2 two hour naps yesterday, they sure helped a lot. Never did figure out what caused the smoke detector to go off. Wife feeling mostly better but still achy. Hope to turn a harbor freight hand plane that I got with some other stuff that I bought from a guy, into a scrub plane. Scrub plane is used to hog off a lot of wood so you can come back over it with a smoothing plane and make it pretty. Hope everyone is pacing themselves on this snow and not doing to much.

Randy, glad you found the cat.

Drew, be careful, you know how to drive in snow but many don't and that always makes me wonder what they will do.

Don, looks great, looks like a lot of dusty work.

Eric, nothing is going to work well in that much slop with out tracking it up. Maybe a pony.

Fox news has a great video of a border collie sledding all on its own, smart dogs but I did not expect that. :)

Have a great day. Ed

9 degrees this morning high of 19 today warm up coming as west coast ridge is replaced with a trough and east coast with a ridge. Colder weather should return in about two weeks for the east

Got two vehicles inspected yesterday one trailer left to do still no weather station installed

Pond is now lower than I've ever seen in my 11 years living here

Plan on zero turn for service today and whatever else I can get into

Prayers for Riptides Buckeyefarmer and Toppop

temp says minus two, must be a record low, strange that it's warmer North of here.
Woke up and couldn't get back to sleep, worried about propane tank, gas company hasn't delivered, I'm running out at the worst possible time, down to 30 percent in tank, they are sitting on a thousand dollars of my money, I've already paid for the propane and they say they are terribly backed up. Not just this weather, they have had operational problems for months. My December delivery never came. I will leave them and rip their tank out of here as soon as I can this Spring, will never be put through this again. But until they deliver, I'm concerned as I make my daily trips to the tank and watch the level drop. Just basic incompetence and their manager should be canned. After I get my delivery, I will write a letter to the company who owns the propane company and give them a piece of my mind, and tell them why they are losing my business.

Going to light a fire in the kitchen fireplace and get that room toasty today, and do some baking. Coldest day of the year, might as well. Tonight is supposed to be the worst.
