We got an American Solutions grapple for our BX24 when we got it last Nov. It is INCREDIBLY useful. I leave it on probably 80% of the time since you can lift it all the way up and still move pretty full buckets with the loader.

I use the grapple for moving brush (we have lots of tanoaks dying from Sudden Oak Death that need to be limbed and the small stuff moved for chipping), picking up rocks and transporting them to places where I'm building retaining walls, and moving larger logs (after I cut trees into ~4' sections) to the pile for bucking and splitting.

In ~60 hours of use, the grapple is getting the most use out of any of my attachments.

Comes off and goes in in about a minute flat, so it's not problem deciding whether to use it or not.

I love my grapple. Won't be without one now that I have had one.
Lot of info on the american solutions grapple in my old posts (very old like two or three years ago) and also if I can get away with posting a link to it, the BX Wiki has a bunch of pictures and info about it.

Buddylamp, congratulations on your new arrival.

As you inquired about tooth bars and skidplates, (and Bernie mentioned the BX Wiki) here are photos of 4 toothbar choices for your BX, and of the popular Bro-Tek skidplate and a couple of custom skidplates made by other TractorByNet members.

Thanks for all the great information! As a newbie I'll have lots of silly questions.

Here's one:

How should I wash the tractor? Hose? Pressure washer? Air compressor? Sensitive areas to avoid?

Thanks

Too much pressure will damage the radiator fins.

Also, some members have reported electrical glitches when getting the instrument panel wet.

Does anyone know roughly how much the Bro-Tek skid plates are? Thanks
Matt.

.

Since you don't have the MMM and don't intend to add it my one other suggestion is fill the tires if you haven't already. Better stability, harder to roll and better traction.
With The MMM FEL and BH Always on MY BX23 I don't see any need to fill the tires.
