Is this common, or do my link bars need to be adjusted somehow? ( )

I also have a JD 855 and recently bought a Woods 6' rear blade. It has side to side tilt, and with 15 degrees of tilt, the corner is almost dragging. I too would like to be able to raise the blade higher. If I adjust the top link, it just changes the angle that the blade bites the ground. Let me know if you find a solution. It seems that the lower links on the 3PH need to be shortened!

Also, do you have trouble starting in cold weather? I'm parked on a lot with no electricity so I can't use any kind of external heater. I jump it with my truck and it turns over fine but won't fire if the temp is less than about 40. The air heater preheat light works as advertised. I'm wondering if the heater itself is really functioning. In the 50s or more it starts very easily and always runs great once it starts.

Actually, I shortened the top link about 1 1/2" and it raised the blade as I expected. Where is the actual blade relevant to the lower 3PH ball joints? I don't know the configuration of the Woods blades, but on the KK, the blade is about 2 feet behind the mounting points. When you shorten the top link, the whole assembly pivots upwards. I think that you are not likely to get much better with that much tilt. A 6' blade at 15 deg tilt will have one corner on the ground, and the other 18.6" high. That seems like a pretty good height to me.

We had some pretty cold days here last week (0 deg air temp), and I had no problems starting. I only used the block heater on the one day that was the coldest, and on the other days, I just waited for the pre-heat light on the dash to time out. I don't have the service manual, so I can't help with checking the pre-heater, but you can do the normal stuff like making sure your air filter is clean, quality fuel, etc.
