Got to operate a friends John Deere 9530 with GPS and very impressive piece of technology - the tractor that is. It really is amazing the cost and the savings of operating this new equipment. It's a much different life on the larger farm these days. This was in Washington State.

That is very cool! I have never driven any of the newer larger tractors. I am in SW Wa so not a lot of large acreage anymore, so you don't see a ton of big iron in this area. Always fun to go to other parts of the state though and see it in action.

I was in Central / Eastern Washington I should have stated where I was operating this beast. There are plenty in that region due to the size of the farming there.

The impressive thing to me was the technology and the cost savings and efficiency that they provide. Sure, they cost more up front but day to day and month to month there is some enormous operating cost savings that pay for those beasts. I better understand why Deere stock has and is doing so well around the world.

It's neat how Deere is starting to get the implements integrated into the GPS screen. Both our planters are run off the same screen as the GPS so there is no planter monitor in the cab anymore. And what is really neat, with the GPS, it tracks where you have been in the field with the planter down. If you have point rows, it will shut off individual rows as the planter over laps into the planted rows. It will also turn the planter on and off as you come to the end of the field where you have already planted your headlands so you don't have to be real accurate when you raise and lower.
