I watch a lot of Gov auctions and the real estate is usually some commercial piece or post office with rediculous reserve. Just checked GSA and saw they had some sweet lots, homes and even a 13 mile off shore lighthouse w/ 5000 sq ft living quarters and 5000 sq ft upper deck and tower......unusual but VERY COOL! All post offices are not owned by the gov. They are rented.

Another place to find property for sale in the VA loan program. Vets buy land and for some reason default. and the VA auctions or sells it off.

Roy, I think you are talking about Texas Veterans Land Board (TxVets) instead of the Veterans Administration. TxVets does have forfeited land sales and will loan you up to $100k to buy land or up to $417k to build a house. They also offer home improvement loans. I do not believe the Veterans Administration has anything like that. They will insure loans, but do no allow you to forfeit and then have bid sales like the TxVet organization does. TxVets is a part of the Texas General Land Office and is not a part of the federal VA.
