In the Market and local dealer told me the M6060 Cab is cheaper than the L6060. Is this primarily related to the HST vs 8spd hydro shuttle? M6060 is 1000 lbs heavier, has a pair or remotes standard, 500lbs more FEL weight, 3 more PTO HP.
What am I missing?

That is correct. You are comparing a premium (Grand L) compact tractor to a base M model utility tractor, but even a M7060 with the 12 speed and creep is just $1200 more than the Grand L60 configured the same. Unless the larger frame M models are problem for your uses the choice is pretty easy IMO. The larger you go the more bang for your buck. A side note, I never realized the 12 speed was not an option for the M6060.

This happens at several places in the product line.

You should be buying on your needs and application, not the biggest numbers. These products are very different from each other.

Ones for comfort and to look cool in/on, the other is for long lasting hard work... lol

Choose wisely...

Every dealer I have talked to is also on the fence with my needs: Large compact vs. entry utility.

Maybe Messick can help!

Here are my needs:

47 acres at 8600 ft. Mixed wooded, rocky area with about 10 acres of wildflower meadow.

Snow removal
Forestry maintenance
Road maintenance

No planting or mowing. This is rugged terrain.

Lots more discussion on the topic http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/buying-pricing-comparisons/392019-tractor-buying-advice-47-acres.html

That's exactly how I ended up with my M7060. I was shopping for a Grand L6060 with all the options, remotes, 3rd function etc. etc. Then I priced the M7060 with all the options, which really wasn't too much more, for a lot more tractor. I said screw it, and went bigger. LOL

Are you planning on getting a cab? Forestry >> no cab. Snow Removal >> cab.

Yes my dilemma is size (width, height). I dont want to get something that severely limits my ability to get into places. Its a balancing act.

It will be Cab.
I have mostly aspen and pine. Aspen groves are a no go for any tractor. I can winch larger trees out if needed. Pine is a mix of lodgepole and ponderosa. The lodgepole dont have many horizontal limbs, but are close together. The Ponderosa are spread out, but also have long limbs.

I have an L5740HSTC and M8540HDC, for us the M8540 is a must have, GL nice to have. We bought the M years before the GL. We have several open station tractors, but I can no longer use them and got tired of roading the M between farms.
