Has anyone seen / know of a front mounted finish mower?

Maybe hydraulically powered.

If not, what would be the downside of building one? Thinking about my wife and her having to mow under trees, wondering if there is a better way.. Rear finish means the tractor tires smashed the grass down first. Even mod mount seems to have a tire issue with a couple of friends of mine.

If you are talking on a tractor think you will have a real issue with seeing the mower and what is going on. Also with a front mounted the discharge I think is more likely to be blown back on you. But you are right on the issues with rfm and mid mount. Are not all mowers on golf courses front mounts? A different thought is how about a side mount cutter? Like the old sickle bar mowers or ones used on roads.

Yeah, I wasn't specific enough....

I have a power-trac 1850 with a front mounted mower (8 foot). Been thinking about getting the wife a real tractor and not her lawn tractor (well, like a MF 1715 or a BX(small) so).

Doing this does not resolve the finish mowing issue (she is in charge of the yard, I am in charge of the acerage). Thought maybe someone had come up with a mower that just attaches to the arms or push mounts on the front of a tractor. Honestly really not sure why this is not just a standard implement. Never understood the belly mount mower. Seems like a design that people just can't shake.

On my PT I can get finsih mower blades but the mowing deck is really not designed for finish work.

Also been considering just a flail on my PT but 6K for an implement, and me suddenly having to do the work she was taking on, makes me ponder.

I used to use a 60" Swisher pull behind mower on the front of my Kubota RTV to mow my trails through the woods. Worked pretty good.

I saw somewhere a person incorporated a snow blower front link to a mid mount and put it out front.
