The driving factor for my M9 cab tractor to go from filament headlight bulbs to LED was, even though I have a 70 amp alternator (and my open station is a 40 amp), I run multiple auxiliary lamps on the cab tractor (high intensity LED's up top, 4 facing forward and 2 rear and even them being LED, they draw quite a bit of current and why I also upgraded ALL the filament bulbs on it to LED. I want as much illumination at night when in the fields or on the road without taxing the alternator excessively or the electrical system. The open station, not so much, but the cab tractor was my prime directive as it gets after dusk field work, often. LED illumination is much mire efficient in illumination produced per amp draw and the life of them is also much longer but that depends on the quality of the SMD's and why I retrofitted my filament to LED lights with CREE SMD's. CREE is the undisputed leader in LED illumination.
