We have something similar to that plant. It came from my mother who past 2014. She always called it the ugly plant, kind of prickly along the green stems/branches(?). But the flowers is redish orange and very seldom does it flower. We will try to take a picture of it in the morning. Jon

Vicious name, ain't it?

Sharp as a mother in-law's tongue.

Fortunately, my mother in-law is nothing like that. But I've known others that have had that experience.

I thought it was called mother in laws tongue because of the numbing, and swelling of the tongue and throat if ingested. A way to shut them up if necessary.

NC State has a plant called a corpse plant? Not sure why the name but, apparently it blooms only every once in a great while and i guess it's ready to bloom because...

everyday for the last week, at least, the news shows what looks to be the exact same picture of some plant, looks the same every day.

And then they say, it has not bloomed yet.
