Adding rear hydraulics, read all the threads I could find, still have these questions. On this page, I don't understand all the choices in the first pull down box. I want two valves that return to center (like you'd use for a top cylinder), and one valve that has a detent position so the flow stays on (I have a post pounder and it has it's own valve, so it needs constant supply). Can someone tell me if these are the two types of valves I want:
  • SVW1BA1 (DA CYL SPOOL SPRING CENTERED)
  • SVW1BB1 (DA CYL SPOOL 3 POSITION DETENT)

thanks

Those are not the valves you want, I would rather see you buy Commercial Intertek or Vickers hydraulic valves simply because you will have help and a warranty that will allow you to service the valve locally.

A 2 spool pilot operated valve block from Vickers will cost you less money over the life of the post driver and it will be properly plumbed internaly for the 2 functions.

I will recommend the Vickers because of the quality without question and by visiting a Vickers hydraulics dealer you are taling to a person across the counter from you and if you have the hydraulic schematic for the post driver they will know exactly what you need the first time and get it for you, test it if for when you bring the driver to them for the plumbing proof and an excellent warranty.

They will ask you:

What is the fluid port size needed for the post driver?

What are the delivered gallons per minute from the tractor as high idle speed?

What is the system pressure at high idle speed prior to its being relieved and returns back to tank?

How big is the accumulator if the post driver has one?

Is the accumulator the disposable type or one you can have rebuilt?

Or are you using a hydraulic weight driven driver with a cushion valve?

Is there room to mount the valve body on the post driver safely?

A vickers valve will give you zero problems and you can talk to the vickers dealer locally.

Its fine to shop but I do not want to see you get your head blown off because the remotes need to be male and female on the tractor and female male on the driver.

please post the model type of the post driver

If the gallons per minute is too low that is huge problem, as you are also using the hydraulics for the three point hitch, and loader if you have one. And you can not buy a valve with bigger pressure and return ports as you will create turbulance and air bubbles.

I don't know about valve quality, but yes those are the sections you want to do what you described. I'm in the process of setting up a similar feature for my L4240 and can't decide between that valve (smaller, cheaper, in and out on both top and side) and the Prince "20 series" (larger, heavier, output only on side). The thing that bothers me about the valve you linked to was where it says "flow 12gpm (nominal) 15 gpm max. Since the 4240 won't get to 12gpm even with the rpms at nearly 3K.

Any thoughts Kenny???

I've upgraded my thinking slightly, I'm going to get the two spring return valves with a float position:
SVH1DD1BB 4-Way 4 Position Float w/ Spring Center and Float Detent
