Have read on here that the front axle fluid is sometimes low when new. Have almost 10 hours on the new beast and want to make sure mine is fine. According to the manual, there is no dipstick, just a drain plug, a fill plug, and a check plug. So am I correct in assuming that to check the level I just park on level ground, remove the check plug and that's about where the fluid level should be? Anything else I need to check at the 10 hour mark? I love this machine and want to take the best care of it I can.

With mine you unscrew the check plug, and the fluid level should be "right there". I sometimes use the bent end of a zip tie to check.

You can add a little and see if it immediately comes out the check hole if you're not sure. I did that once, left a drain pan under the front axle overnight. Once it stops dripping out, it's full to the right level.

Level ground, remove fill plug, remove check plug, add fluid to fill hole until it runs out check hole, insert check plug. Philip.

What everyone else said on the front axle. But now you are going over the machine is the time to hit every grease fitting on the machine. When my Kubota was delivered, half of them on the loader had not been greased. They had hit them with the grease gun, because there was a grease wad around them, but there was orange paint over the check ball. I had to scrape the paint off to get them to take grease. Check all the important bolts. Loader to frame bolts. Wheel bolts/nuts. My suspension seat was frozen.. Lubed it up. Just general stuff..You would think a good mechanic would go over everything, but no one loves it like you do. How are you getting along with it?.. Is it everything you expected it to be?

I've been out of town for a few days. The front axle fluid was right on the money.

James, I LOVE the tractor. It is better than my old tractor in every way. The 4x4 comes in handy even finish mowing my yard so I can back uphill to mow next to things. The hydro alone was worth the upgrade. It cuts my mowing time way down because I don't have to pick one safe speed and go with it. I can go flat out on a straight, slow down for a sloped turn, go slow over a thick patch, then floor it again, all in less than a minute. I was worried over nothing in regard to the weight with loaded tires. In Med range "rabbit," it will accelerate uphill pulling a mower a lot faster than I feel comfortable going. The quick attach makes it unbelievably easy to pop off the bucket for mowing. The extra width of the R4s makes it feel incredibly stable. It isn't bouncy like my old tractor. It's smoother and quieter. It's just a big improvement in every way. There are probably things I'm forgetting to mention. Heck, even the steering wheel is a lot better. Gear tranny was really wrong for my uses. I haven't even been able to use the cruise control. It's just better on my terrain to be able to constantly change speed.

Really really really happy. It has even exceeded my expectations.

Good deal man, I know you had some reservations, as we all do, but I am glad it is working out for you. Yes the HST is so cool to operate, when mowing or FEL work, anything you need to change speed quickly and effortlessly. Can we go ahead and send you last sentence in to Kubota for a billboard? I think they would appreciate it. I have over 60 hours now on the Kioti, and all is well. It is a rock/ fill moving machine:) I checked the cruise once to see if it worked.. but about useless where I live and what I use a tractor for. I used it a lot on the New Holland I had in Willard. When I mowed 7 acres. But we had a lot that was flat in the creek bottom. Take care
