Here are what i use for filters... I like purolator, but you can cross reference for others... switched to the p before the oil filters p/n for the pureone filters instead of the regular oil filter.
Filter reference...

Thanks. Is there a cost savings? Do you know roughly the amount?

I think the l14610 is 2.99 and the pl14610 is 5.99. Would be cheaper than dealer price, but the filtration on the pl4610 is supposed to on of the best. Wix is supposed to be really good to, but don know the cross reference without googling it...

Romek 2,
You always get a lot of helpful information here. I am a little on the safe side I know, but if it were me I would only use OEM filters while still in warranty just so there is no problem down the road. The cost savings isn't much when compared to the cost of the unit. Take care and good luck with the chages!

oh, as for the oil I use rotella T (full synthetic) and i get it from walmart in a gallon. As for the trans, i had to get the filter and fluid from the dealer. I wanted to put the sudt fluid in the trans but my dealer said we dont even carry that stuff because thats only for extreme temps and not needed in NJ. They use udt fluid in everything and they rent their machines out too.

I was in advanced auto the other day and they had a few different hydraulic fluids, one made for farm/tractor use and it said on the back it was kubota approved, which i thought was weird. I dont know much about hydro fluid, and i am sure their isnt much of a difference, but with that, i will stick with udt from the dealer. Like the previous poster said, use oem to be safe if you dont know. But with the filters and oil i researched and know whats for what and what can be use else where. I like to get the best protection I can get. You have to reasearch and learn about the oils now a days, they have a lot of additives for different things.

I just try to use whats better, so if i have to do a little running around for stuff i dont mind. The funny thing is all my bikes use the same oil filter so i stock up on them. I also run the same oil in them too, rotella t. So have that on hand too.

I did get the oem filters and oil for now. I am thinking about afterwards when the tractor is nicely broken in and I would like to save a little. I remember my 1981 honda prelude. I had it for 12 years, I wanted to buy a new car when it broke. It never did. After a while I just added oil and never changed it. It still never broke down. I gave it to my younger brother who can kill anything. It never did. Great little japanese machine.

The main thing is what ever makes you feel safe to use! I dont mind spending extra money, especially when I will be doing the maintance way ahead of schedule and once a year. Next month will be a year for me and i only have a little over 60 hours. Most of it is all backhoe time digging out tree stumps. I am 30 and hopefully this thing will last me my life time :D I love this machine!

When I did my 50 hour routine I used a purolator motor oil filter because I have heard a lot of good reports on them but I used a Kubota hydraulic filter because it has a magnet in it to pick up metal filings and there are always quite a few on the old filter. The replacements do not have the magnet.

When I did the 50 hour on my BX24 a couple months ago I was advised to change the hydro fluid and filter and clean the intake screen in the hydro trans. It was not cheap, $75 worth of SUDT but I did find noticeable metal shavings in the hydraulic fluid and in the screen. I am happier knowing that stuff is not still floating around in the system. Just MHO. Good luck and enjoy your BX!

Here is a good page from messicks about services....
Kubota BX Service
Definitly change the hydro fluid, filter, and clean the screen. Mine had metal shavings on it. I heard it was very common to have a lot of shavings at the 50 hr service and at the next 200 hr service none shows up...
