Tractor
2008, L2800, HST, 473 FEL / Ford 8N, (well maybe only a 7.5N!)
I'm looking to get a L tractor have wanted one for years and perhaps now is the time considering the $2k instant reduction have two options and could use some help on deciding or negotiating further.

Option #1: L2800HST, 4WD, 473FEL, R4 tires, Gearmore box scraper, 60" Razorback Bush hog, 108 hrs, one owner garaged from day 1, manufactured Aug'06 purchased in Mid 08. excellent condition - no damage at all, just a bit of straw built up on the radiater pre-screen (1/8" covering), fluids changed twice (filters once at the 50 hr mark) but i can feel some 3PH jerkiness when lifting the bushhog in a feathering style (and can feel pulses in the tractor from the 3PH). Asking price ~$13500. Is this a fair price or a good price or not so good?

Option #2: L3200 HST 4WD, 524 FEL, R4 tires, about 32-60 hours, these are 2012 harvest rental returns, use w/o a front loader. Doen NOT include the box scraper or bush hog ~ $14,900 (with tax $16000, price includes the$2k reduction). This would cost about $17800 with a box scraper and bush hog.

I like the L3200 model and loader better (of course), but is the L3200 style and newness worth the difference. Would the L3200 have a better contol on the 3PH (no jerkiness)?

Thanks for any input between the two - or any advice on how much I should pay for either option.

Thanks,

Paul

For $4k less - I think for sure I'd go with the L2800. Hard to tell but does the L3200 come with a loader for $17,800?

I bought a 2011 L3800DT, gear drive, 14 hours, FEL and 5" hog for 16k out the door, 10 months ago.

The L2800 you're lookin at is priced fairly, but the L3400 is too high, IMO...

Yes the configuration of the harvest rental return is HST, 4WD, 524FEL, R4 Tires for $14,900 (add in $1000 tax, 700 box scraper (gearmore) and $1200 for bushhog) = $17,900.

Was the L3800DT a harvest rental return? I think the HST adds $1000 right. What was the price on the package prior to tax - roughly?

Thanks

No sales tax here in Missouri if it's for farm use. And no, it wasn't a harvest rental return.

The L3800DT was a trade in and only 14 hours, looked brand new.

Tractor was 15k and Land Pride 5' mower was 1k.

And I'm very pleased with it! :D

Ok I think I am going to make a final inspection of the L2800 - uho pic heavy see attached - probably not the best photos!

Other than general observing - is there anything specific I should ckeck on this.

I have driven it fwd / backward in each range, turned, raised/lowered Fell, engage the PTO on the Bush Hog (gently let out cluch), tried the 3PH with bush hog on it. He was religeous about greasing all points every 10 hours (108 hrs now).

Any items that i should specifically inspect for would be appreciated.

Also is there any way to route that bundle of FEL hydraulic lines that stick up like a sore thumb - downward instead of up - i've always thought that was "un-cool".

Thanks,

Paul

I think either one would make a good tractor for you. The L2800 is just barely "broken in" My 2010 L3400HST had a few more hours on it when I traded it, and it was like new.. You might put some pickup bed liner on the floorboards of the L2800 if you get it. It will dress it up a bunch and really gives good traction. I did it to mine and was very pleased with the results. Yeah the L2800 probably has the "jerky" hitch, and maybe the L3200 might be better in that regard, maybe.. some report their L3200's are not jerky some are. As for the loader lines, all examples of that model are all like that, and I don't see a way to really help that a lot.. You ignore it after a while. Here is a link to the floorboard thread. Either one works, but as always more power is better if you can afford it and the HST is wonderful, loaders are almost as handy as the tractor. The L series are great tractors.

That L2800 looks very good! Should be nothing to worry about...

The hydro lines on my L3800 are more forward and not sticking up that high. You might can reroute them a bit. I leave my FEL off most of the time and the lines stay with the loader.
