HELP! PHD shaft is short

/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I received my PHD from Northern Tool today. I've got the boom on the top of the third point and the U-frame in the middle hole. The problem is the shaft does not reach the PTO (about 14" away). The auger is about 4" of the ground. Do I need to buy an extension? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I've attached a photo for you to see.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but have you pulled the two halves apart?

I didn't know that they come apart. How do I go about doing that?

Just pull on the quick coupler and they should slide apart. If they have been jammed during shipping, you may have to really jerk it. When you get it to slide be sure an grease the shafts.

My instructions are vague. Is the quick coupler on the end? If so, which?

The joint that is not attached to the post hole digger. The end that goes on the tractor PTO shaft. That is the end to pull on.

Don't be so hard on yourself, that is one of the reasons that most of use are here (to learn). Did you get some shears bolts or pins?

Yes. They came with it. It's all together but I need to check the gear box oil tomorrow. The manual says ER-140 or 85w-140. I've never seen this weight before. Is it hard to find?
