I have a 405xxx serial number JD 2040.
she was running fine. well she had a leaking Injector pump which we rebuilt/sealed. I also dropped the loader down a bit to help reach the starter which I replaced at the time.
Tractor running great now no more loss of power from leaking IP.
Start it up, leaking at quick connect under loader control. finally get it seated. acting kind of weird. loader finally starts going up and down but it took a bit after realizing i didnt have the quick connect seated all the way.
Pulling it out of the shop and the Hydraulic line going to the reservoir tank above the front hydraulic pump disconnected ( some idiot forgot to tighten the clamp from metal line to hose during previous repair
)
that idiot was me.
hydraulic fluid shooting everywhere. shut it down. Cuss a bit. no problem. Refill.
nothing. no loader. no power steering, 3 pt slow as christmas.
I drain fluid, change filter, * clean sump screen, check bypass valver above filter. sump screen a bit dirty not awful clean now. new filter. Bypass valve goes in and out with moderate pressure appears right.
replace. refill. nothing.
no PS, no loader, 3 pt stays in lifted position. no weight no it so it wont go down but cant remember if that is normal. we usually have a mower hanging on it. currently it is unloaded.
i dont know what to do. I have the manual but i dont have guages. After cleaning and changing the filter and screen I disconnected the line that initally separated feeding the hydraulic tank and it shot out quite a bit of oil so it is getting up there. I didnt measure how much but it is definitely a good flow.
are there any things i can check before purchasing guages and what is my next logical step. I am kind of at a loss, a bit sick of this thing but Dad is partial to it and I would like to get it running. any help would be greatly appreciated. No way I am taking it in to JD as they will charge me way past the worth of this old girl.
I was not sure if there was maybe a screen on the front pump that could cause this?
She has been a good back up tractor and i do admire its solid build. would like to solve this if possible.
thanks in advance for any help it will be greatly appreciated.
