I can take measurements of mine later today if you wish

If it's not inconvenient. I'm curious about the bucket front edge to the back (interior dimension), and the height of the back piece from ground to top. Thanks!

For comparison info, this is my 1 cubic yard 6 foot wide Versahandler V417 standard, general purpose bucket:

OK, in the shop now... for the 84in bucket inside dimensions 38" bottom and back of bucket is 24". I use this with a 724 loader and a full bucket of wet snow has some heft, I dont think I would want to have a larger bucket. I do have loaded rears but no 3pt ballast. With the 84" bucket it also gives you some width so you have to watch yourself in narrow areas. I use my bucket as a snow pusher, then pick up and dump at end of run. I like using this bucket better than my 72" snow blower, for anything under a foot and half of snow as I believe it is faster. Also in float I dont grab any dolomite as the blower will. Have not used the blower in a while... here are a couple pics on my 3240.

So is it crazy to use some of these high capacity buckets like I linked above on a tractor? I'm surprised by the lack of googe-able content about people doing this, or youtube videos. Am I abusing what are essentially skid steer buckets if I use them on a tractor?

Though of course it's good to see the posts of two of you using larger buckets, but Xfaxman seems to be using skid steer loaders.

Though the fact my dealer showed me some parts without shaking his head "no" lends some credibility to it, since he's quick to judge some of my ideas negatively ;-)
Though it was by email this time, perhaps I simply couldn't see the head shaking.

I would probably get the most volume I could find, but if the thing is 33 inches tall, or more, maybe I wouldn't even be able to see where I"m going, or maybe the bucket can't curl up properly, or, or, or .... I don't know.

As an aside, I've basically decided that my zero turn mower plus something like a cyclone rake just isn't stable enough in my environment (the lawn mower is even more likely to tip than the tractor). So that leaves me back with blowing and raking leaves in some places, and I'd rather throw money at it than do it with a tarp. (It's a big yard, I have to haul it a long way).

I used to hire it out, but darned if I can find reliable people. Last year they assured me they'd get the leaves and garden cleanups before the first snow, and didn't, and so I have leaves killing grass, though I got _most_ of the yard clean before the snows stuck around.

So 1 yard = 27 cubic feet, if this bucket is 35 cubic feet then it can hold 1.3 cubic yards. Mulch is 6-800 lbs a cubic yard so the bucket can hold 780-1,040 lbs of mulch for a total max load of 1,796 lbs. The LA1065 loader can lift 1,690 lbs centered at 19.5" to full height. The bucket load will be 25" on center. You will be a max capacity if filling the bucket full.

The MX5400 is about 70" wide, so you will have 7" overhang on each side.

It sounds like the combo will work out fairly well. A bonus is that you can use it for snow in the winter.
If you wanted a wider bucket, here is an option as well.

I bought an oversized bucket from my dealer. It's only 5' wide compared to the 6' one that came with the tractor, but holds about twice the volume. Has a cuft size on the label, but I don't recall the amount right off. I use it for wood chips, saw dust, compost, fire wood....thinking about adding a back screen to it for firewood. I added the toothbar to make it easier to rake up around my wood sheds.

Sounds like I'll take a walk around the dealers lot as soon as the weather warms to see some bigger buckets. My primary utility will be leaves and mulch, and occasional detritus cleanup like branches if my grapple isn't needed or handy (or it's too small and falls through the grapple). For the leaf cleanup though, I'd basically be trying to maximize floor area and overall volume, so that instead of putting down a tarp I'll be putting down a bucket. From the leaf carrying standpoint it'll weigh next to nothing in tractor terms.

Thanks for the tips and opinions. Will post something more if I get one later in the spring.
