I donnot think I made my self clear on my last post. What I was asking was do I go with the stock BL4690A kubota backhoe or a frame mounted aftermarket hoe instead?? The dealer said that the frme mounted bh"s are a lot stronger. Is this true??? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It feels like this is true. That being said, the people who designed the Kubota tractor also designed the 3PH backhoe...or at least approved the use of the 3PH backhoe with their tractor, and put the Kubota name on it.

check the archives...there is a lot of discussion on this exact subject there.

I decided to go with the Kubota backhoe for my B2910. I did not want finger pointing to occur if something would break and it was not all made by the same manufacturer...

In the end it probably doesn't really matter much on these little tractors, at least for non commercial use...

As an FYI, make sure that the aftermarket BH does not require that you remove the ROPS. My dealer was looking into a BH for the BX2200 from K and W (I think) and the directions for installation, according to the dealer, said to remove the ROPS. Based on that he pulled the plug on ordering the equipment and is waiting for Woods to come out with a BH.
Guess, if it were up to me I would use a factory.

RIGGSJR,

The frame mounted will work well, but limit the options such as a MMM in conjunction with a BH subframe. Although most will not do heavy BH work with a MMM attached it is a drawback with the subframe setup.

Also, the R&R of the 3PTH is a bit more difficult. You may want to check out the new Bradco 3375 that has a 4 Point connection that is similar to the Kubota TLB 4 Point saddle connection. The Bradco setup is a subframe that bolts onto the rear casting, then ties into the tractor frame midpoint under the tractor.

This setup does not reduce the ground clearance of the tractor, and is more compact, sitting closer to the tractor which reduces the overhang and O/A length of the unit.

When I bought my B7800 I had several deals tell me to go with the Kubota Backhoe. If you go with a after market and some thing breaks, whose part broke whose is going to be a problem. The 4690 is a great hoe and I have about 10 hours on my now and couldn't be more pleased. I used in to dig a 40 foot trench this morning. It is well built and I don't think Kubota is going to build a hoe that is going not match up with the tractor. I trust their engineering, other wise I wouldn't buy the tractor.
