One of the features seen with the newer mower decks is the auto-connect and the Load-N-Go brackets. I'll never have auto-connect with my older 54C deck, but Load-N-Go shouldn't be that difficult. One of the frustrations with the JD brackets is that they are incompatible with the Power Flow. I need Power Flow for picking up leaves in the fall and for the times when the grass gets too long to leave the clippings.
As I surveyed the situation, the thought of making brackets that are easily removable eliminated the issue of whether my stuff interfered with anything. So I settled on using the posts for the deck wheels. It's super easy to drop this onto the posts, slip in some pins, and I'm ready to pick it up with the loader.
Last night I cobbled together a wood prototype that I was thinking would be a pattern for something built out of steel. But this works so nicely, that I'll clean it up, add some reinforcements, paint it and this will become the final thing. Even without any reinforcement, this has no problems with lifting the deck, and I can yank and pull on the deck while its lifted, so it will be super solid after some additional blocking.
